Anyone have the problem of the intake hose to the throttle body (GT Turbo) coming off? Seems to happen under acceleration. This has happened three times. - I put it back on, tighten clamp but it pops off. Will probably bring to dealer, but don't have much faith in local dealer troubleshooting this problem..

Please torque to 45 in. lbs and get a new clamp.

Sometimes a thin petroleum film gets on the hose and a simple degreasing of all contacting surfaces allows the hose to get enough grip to stay put. Try not to overtourque, it always causes problems later.

Update:
I just picked car up from the dealer.. They claim to have 'adjusted and repositioned air hose'. READ -> Tighten again.. So I have almost no confidence that it is going to stay on. Does anyone know if there is some sort of back pressure on that line? (Air line to the Throttle body - Looks like it comes from intercooler.). I don't understand why it comes off every couple of days under acceleration. - Kjman |

Do you hear the surge valve opening once you let go of the pedal?
Do you have modded the Boost controller? Do you have a boost gauge? If you do, what are your readings? This may sound crazy but, maybe it is not under acceleration, maybe it happens when the Throttle Body closes and the boost inside the line pushes it out. the turbo generates 14 PSI above absolute presure("0" PSI) but in reality you are making 29 PSI absolute (this is with the addition of the 14.6PSI that is ambient air at sea level). this is a lot of boost compared to a N/A car with -5 Absolute PSI intake. The reason for the factory Surge valve is, to open once you let go of the throttle, although poorly, it lets the excess pressure get out. If it's working in a less than optimal manner, you can have excess pressure left inside the intake hose and push it out little by little. This is just another angle to your case. It doesn't mean is the problem. Ian

Everything on Crusier is stock. I will have to listen for the surge valve opening and will let you know. Thanks for the good info! -K- |

WEll, it happened again. Guess I get to bring it down to the dealer again. Hopefully they will troubleshoot problem this time. Its pretty anoying! I am going to push for them to change out hose / clamp. We can go from there..
