I've been wondering the same thing. [:I] I thought it might be my PC but guess everyone is experiencing it. At least it is normal again today.

Since my 2003 GT had 6400 miles on it the General Sales Manager used "lemon law calculations" which resulted in some depreciation for the mileage. Since it was a "MSRP to MSRP exchange"--I did not pay MSRP but only dealer invoice--I received full credit for all the rebates that were available at the time I purchased the 2003 GT. I did have to come up with some money to get into the new 2004 GT but I was pleased with the deal and being able to get rid of my "defective 2003 GT" quickly.

Yesterday I received my new "replacement turbo car" which brings an end to the saga of the "mysterious" turbo engine noise. [^]

I think the dealer screwed up on this one. The follower never makes noise, it is always a sticky lash adjuster that makes those funky noises. They should have replaced the lash adjusters, all of them while they had the valve cover off. Takes all of ten minutes.

But that is a cool color...

Thanks for the information, 3BarBoost. I'll pass it along to my dealership. Should it prove to be correct I suspect there will be some "unhappy people" in the Service Department. [xx(]

My 2003 GT makes the noise too, and I only have 39,000 miles on it. It's not a lifter noise, but sounds more like a fan blade intermittantly hitting something...very tinny.

I'm not going to worry about it for now, but will keep an eye out.[:0]

That's a good description of how my former 2003 GT sounded, but, it wasn't the fan! It was coming from inside of the engine but the exact location and problem could not be identified. So, the car remains in the shop--[u]for the fourth consecutive week</u>--and everything from the cylinder-head up is being replaced. However, it doesn't matter much to me anymore as the dealership now owns the car and I'm cruisin' in my new 2004 GT turbo car! [8)]

Stopped by the dealership last Friday to pick-up some custom carpets for my new GT. While there I was told my former 2003 GT was "back together again" and would be checked-out to see if the "mysterious" noise had gone away. If so, then the car will be sold used under warranty. Should the noise eventually return during the warranty period then the dealership will put in a new engine as the "final solution" to the problem. To date, DC has spent close to $5,000 in parts and labor to repair the car. [B)]
