What do you think? I have reservations concerning some aftermarket exhaust systems for the PT. Bassani, although nice sounding, is axle back for both their single and dual exhaust systems. So, the muffler to catalytic converter pipe is still stock (read----->RUSTY!). PT Tuning has their single and dual exhaust systems (not the Stage 1 muffler). They are stainless and look & sound good. To me, if I were to make a decision based only on these two systems, I would choose PT Tuning's system since it is a full stainless cat-back system. However, since I have a PT Turbo, I want a little more pipe diameter [I am ordering my Stage 1 kit this week] in anticipation of the kit [and maybe Stage 2]. To any owners of the ATR systems, does it have the exhaust drone that some other systems have? Is it a quality item? Customer service? Sorry to ask the questions, but I don't want drop my hard-earned $$ on something that isn't worth it. Thanks, Scott |

I have the BTG Cat-Back single and it's a great looking piece, and the sound is unbelievable, not too loud but always present.

Borla now has the 2.5" for the turbo. This is my choice. I have run Borla full stainless exhaust on several mustangs and I like them...but that is just me.

These ATR folks sure are proud of a single tube exhaust.
(I don't care if it is the only full 3"exhaust, $600 is exhorbitant. Might as well support Billy Boat and his $1000 Porsche exhaust systems.) [:I]My Bad - wrong price quote! Just a mere $600 not $700. |

looking at ATR's exhaust, the nice 2.5" pipe chokes down at the insert point to the cat. so you run a restriction at the most proximal point of the exhaust and then the pipe opens. It's got to be at least 1/4" narrower at the neck of the tunnel pipe.

ATR is one of the best exhaust systems on the market. They are as close to an open exhaust that you can get using a muffler. I had their system on a 95 Impala. I did have some drone around 1500-2000 rpm's on the Impala. I think the reason the pipe starts at 2 1/4" as all catback systems do is, that is the stock pipe size after the cat. The only way around that would be to go to an 2 1/2 of 3" cat. Their system is pricey but were well made. 2 1/2" - $500, 3" - $600.

Hi, I'm a new member. I have written to a few
of you before. So, you are saying that the 2 1/2" for a mildly hyped P/T and the 3" for like, the Stage 1's? Herschel. Really nice to be here. ![]() |

Actually, BTG noticed a dropoff of low end power when they went from a 2 1/4" to a 2 1/2" dual system on a stock turbo, and if your mods are only intake and exhaust those considerations should be part of the mix. My guess is that this all goes out the window when you throw in a Stage 1 kit.

stock 2 1/4" piping is just fine for a mildly modded PT. If you plan on approaching anything over 260hp or so, a 2.5" sytem should do it. Anything breaking the 300hp would probably need a 3".
