Black oil on dipstick

another chapter to my PT's saga

Last oil change was 2,200 miles ago.

I checked my dipstick, which I have done before, and this time the oil was below the MIN mark and the oil was pretty much black and smelled burned.

I have 2.4 turbo auto.

I was driving 70 miles per day for the last 2 years but within the last month went back to 8 miles per day.

I asked a guy at Kragen if that would attribute to oil being used faster, but he said it sounds like the oil that was used on the last change was 'cheap' oil.

I'm concerned because I've never seen it black nor has it smelled.

Any ideas?

I added half a quart and am going to get it changed tomorrow...

well for me Id change that oil NOW and then probably ina week or so change it again the turbo adds a lot of heat and like the guy said the oil they use at the big name oil change places is not the best that is out there
Id probably change it and add like a quart of Mystery Oil to try and clean the inside up---and on the 70 miles vs 8 miles the engine wont get as warmed up but i cant see why that would effect the oil usage which should be 0

here's what kills me

I just realized the chrysler dealer did the last oil change!!!!

Any other suggestions on other maintenance I should be doing around the 71,000 mark?

I just did transmission fluid and new coolant with my new radiator.

Put synthetic oil in that turbo engine! It can take the heat much better...
