Default THE WHOLE TRUTH PART 2

Sorry so long geting back, but my computor stoped working, and i am at the a public one.But back to the truth.I went to the 1/4 mile track, got there early,in 1 hour made 8 runs,6 changes, without shut the engine off and corrected for weather changes 3 times. With a full tank (About 3550 lbs.) 2 Blast out runs on street then 1 hr. cooldown
1st run 15.67/88.03 2nd 15.72/87.40(warmed up)now add .025 bleed hole in waste gate hose
15.48/87.65 add now .030 hole 15.42/87.65 now remove both air box silencers 15.37/89.42 now remove air filter(used 5000 miles) 15.33/89.49 now .036 hole 15/24/90.37 now not contiue to idle off line, trying 2000 gas & brake 15.11/90.70 (Came out burning like a fuel burning dragster) Well no 14s,but I had fun.Going to install my stage 1 and then back to the 1/4 mile,I feel this is the only 100% good testing that i have seen on this sight.I am sorry i won't be able to answer any of your posts because my computor died or till its fixed OLDHEAD

thanks for the info. It appears you improved .11 secs after removing silencers and filter which equates to a rule of thumb ~10 hp at the strip. this is great empirical data, I've been concerned the air intake flow may have been outside the PCM look-up tables, apparently not. Great news for all of us who've modified our air intakes.

Removing the silencers did good for me at minimal/no cost but the new K&N Typhoon air intake system makes my car sound like about another 15 hp!!! Waiting on realeas of the system before K&N will release dyno numbers! It does quiet down on Highway so I only can hear it when I accelerate. Now I know when the turbo is working though since I never spend the money for a turbo guage. BTW it works almost all the time when I accelerate even a little bit!!

OK OK:so i was wrong, but i told the truth,by the way 15.37 from 15.42 is .05,I feel all the changes i made was worth 27 hp.I also think that if i would have cooled down for 2 hours that i would have turned in the 14.9s.By the way i did see boost as high as 16#(surge),when it cools down in about a month,i will put on my stage 1 and run again. And my computor is broke for good i think,so i won't be posting as much.OLDHEAD

Couple of thoughts about your times. Weight is a killer in drag times as is traction. Did you take out all your back seats? Not sure why you filled up with gas exept that you wanted to make a lot of runs. Most hot times are recorded with not more than 1/4 tank of gas. Cooling off intake with dry ice is a good way to insure optimal temp in intake system. I tink you have a 14 sec car just have not achieved the results yet. You might even get into te 14 sec bracket by not using the traction control, maybe you didnt, or by choosing another take off technique! Exept for the mods stated is yours a stock auto?? If so what rpm did you shift or just floored it and let auto upshift in stick mode?? Love to see a stock auto break into 14's with low cost / minimal cost mods only. BTW if you are going for stage 2 yo will need exhaust mods!

Just my thoughts I am impressed that you actually got off your ass and did some fun stuff!

Do you have any idea when K&N will be selling the Typhoon for the 2003 GT?

GTSTEVE, no idea just that it should be soon. I have a call into them today and when they return it I will post their answer or lack thereof!! All I know is that they said I could upgrade to a different finish (mine is kinda prototype natural aluminum) when they go public and they will give me the dyno sheets for my car with the Typhoon installed to go along with baseline number they gave me about 3 months ago!
