Ant, I know there aren't a whole bunch of us out there yet, but I'd find it interesting to see how you'd run stacked up against a Staged 1 GT. Have you taken it to the Qtr yet to get Qtr mile ET's and MPH? You gotta at least be running 13's

Actually have not dynoed or raced it yet. Have 7,000 + mi since I installed the engine and turbo in Jan. I started to get back into working on cars to make some extra money and the past few months have been crazy. So, I have not had time to play with the car as much as I wanted. Still waiting on those "coming soon" parts in my sig. When I get them installed, and the weather cools down a bit here in AZ, I will take it to the dyno, tune it, crank up the boost, tune it, and get it to the track. I have 1 major issue however; I have an auto. I never intended on taking this car as far as I did and now I have to deal with it. So, this car will never be able to live up to its fullest potential. The good news is I can launch it hard without the tires going up in smoke (good for me off the line), and with the auto the TB never slams shut during shifts so I keep the turbo spooled up and have steady boost through the entire run.

Oh, BTW I would love to race a Stage 1 GT. In a month or 2 as we get back into track season, any takes?

Same problem here...I live too far away. But I love to race, even if I lose. I'm guessing you should be .5 to 1 second faster than a S1 GT. Our manual 5 spds. can also be shifted without any spool-time between shifts if we powershift, infact the S1 install instructions point that out. I've tried it and there is zero spool-time...a little hard on the gear-box though and more prone to missed shifts. My Mom is a snowbird and frequents Apache Junction during the winter-early Spring, the Misses and I will be visiting her next March-April...are you around Phoenix?

I am in Peoria, which is NW of Phoenix. There is Firebird Raceway in the Chandler area which shouldn't be too far from Apache Junction. It is a little under an hour away from me, but I love to drive. Keep in touch around that time.

On the balance shaft issue, this is an old (since there were balance shafts) mod. that works well in racing.

Two problems for regular folks:

1) Lower rpm vibrations on a street car may be unbearable (for ocupants)
2) Manifacturers have noticed that the unwanted harmonics mess up everything from sensors to injectors, and may mess with the lubrication.

The harmonics and vibration are not much of an issue in racing because the majority of engine run time is spent at an rpm above the vibration zone.

This mod is NOT for the faint of heart!!!

wish you lived closer ANT. I have yet to be beat by a neon or PT. OR WRX,any honda. but I did have a problem with a cirtian Integra with a 2.0 bottom end and a 1.8 head. Totaly built engine! He blew my doors off when he hit 3rd. I had the 17,s on but he still had me even if I had the drag radials on.

Ant, I'll give you a hollar before we head down next spring, I've been to Firebird twice over the last 6 years and know exactly where it is. That is a great track with the dragstrip on one side and the lake for hydro-racing on the other. We've gone down for an additional "fix" of Top Fuel racing (NHRA) besides our annual trip to the nationals in Seattle, Wa.
