Default Pics of Custom IC Sprayer on the GT

Well I thought it was a good day to make a IC Sprayer system for the Cruiser. With alot of help from Rich, here is the outcome... Some of the water hits the lower grill but at speed the wind should disperse the water really well. Stock airbox would not work with this setup due to the resevoir location.

If you get a chance and have the intruments to take some real-world temp measuements I would like to see it. I read recently a study done in Australia on this concept and the results were okay but not what was expected. The problem was that the intercooler acted as a heat-sink. Unless they ran the sprayer all the time it didn't help them in everyday driving. They had it hooked up to a switch at the go pedal and when they got into it with boost it would spray, but by the time the temp dropped (it took a while for the metal comprising the intercooler to cool and pass this to the charge air in the intercooler) it was already over as far as the need for boost. Unless they turned the sprayer on and left if run all the time to keep the temp down it was not effective. Of course they ran out of water in short order running the sprayer all the time.

wicked mod man... if they're running that on a 300hp STi Subaru you can bet that it works for something. Also a very clean install in the engine bay...
As a suggestion, change the washer jets to the misting ones. I can't remember what car they come on, but it would evaporate MUCH quicker and cover more of the I/C as opposed to the spray kind.

And to add to this, If you don't get the misting ones, Just adjust it to hit the I/C diectly. This would keep the water inside the engine bay and any excess would run down the I/C cooling more metal.

It is a great and clean install!!!

Great job [8D]

Thanks for all the compliments. Total Cost was about $50. Gonna take it to the track and see if it makes a difference. I think I'll throw some Ice cubes in the Resevoir too :-) All in all it's just a cool mod to have.

Chipmunk,
Your local track will likely have a fit if they see you spraying water on their track! The fast cars with slicks REALLY don't like water under their tires except in the burnout area behind the starting line. A 12 second car that hits water in 2nd or 3rd gear could likely hit the guard rail! Please be sensible with your creation. I think it's a great move, by the way! Just not for the drag strip.
