If you stay out of the gas the K&N is pretty quiet just a little more sound than my stock box without silencers. Cruising it makes little more sound than stock and with A/C on can't really hear it till you accelerate! But you can hear the turbo spool up and hear BOV operate and also hear the fluttering sound when you back off. I have auto so I can't tell you what sounds you get shifting!

I have AirAid and it is very quiet, easy install and very nice looking. I like it a lot. I can't hear turbo [:I] spool up though. Only noisy under load and when you step on it.

[:I]Air Raid is NOT a cold air system, it may be an attempt at one but it has most of the same flaws as K&Ns. It's metal(conducts MASSIVE heat) including the metal box which also is FULL of holes and gaps.
Mine is scheduled be in production and for release mid to late October. Hit me back if you're interested in one! As well as the battery covers!

[8)]My design is made from looking at systems like yours as well as metal box systems. That is how I came up with this design, plexiglass and 3"PVC plastic (doesn't conduct heat)insulated with heating duct insulation from the filter to the turbo intake as well as the box itself. It is sealed at the top and sides so the only air allowed is from the fender and hood scoop, outside air. Quantity of air is important, but more important is QUALITY, the cooler the air going in the better the performance and the temp. difference between the engine compartment and the air box on mine IS signifigant! Also the pcv filter is inside the box and any oil is caught by the filter element, easily changed. I'm working on making mine purtier but I felt function came first. I know, a picture would help![img][8D]http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid74/p3e5cb07b9558b0a4c6c5a79b164db68c/fb6465f7.jpg[/img]

Here's my version of a "real" cold air intake:
![]() A K&N cone filter is located below the driver's side wiper cowl cover. The rest of the intake consists of a 3" od aluminum tube connected to the filter, a 3" id upper flex tube, a 3" od aluminum intermediate tube with connections for stock breather hoses, and 2.75" rubbber lower elbow for connection to the turbo. The cowl cover has holes drilled in it to allow the entry of fresh, cold air from the hi-pressure area at the base of the windshield The weatherstripping is intact sealing off the engine compartment. The filter is shielded from rain under the portion of the cowl cover that is solid. Water that enters the filter area is drained away by factory holes. This is NOT a solution for noise-sensitive drivers. At WOT throttle it sounds like a jet aircraft on a take-off roll!!! But that's OK with me!
