Default gas mileage with Boost controller??

I've noticed that when at high boost, i go throuhg gas like a demon. And it's NOT that i'm punching it way more. When i'm not at high boost i can rev. lower at higher speeds, but at the same rpm as with boost i use less gas. Anyone else experiencing this?

The more boost you run, the more air is forced into the engine, and the more fuel is needed to maintain an ideal af ratio. BTW this is not 14.7:1 in turbocharged cars. Well it might be in an ultra super highly tuned car, but about 10-12:1 is safer especially when upping the boost. Also leaves room to lean it out to increase power when you are tuning it. Your mileage may vary

I figured as much DSM, but it's nice to get another informed opnion. I'm confused though as to how people with Stage 1 are getting BETTER gas mileage with higher flow injectors, higher boost, and more fuel demand??

I find with the stage 1 I am getting better fuel milage when running under factory conditions. But with my boost controller hooked up forget it at high boost I am lucky to get 250klm per tank, more air requires more fuel minor sacrifice for more performance.

Cop Tzer,

stage one doesn't increase boost all the time, it adds boost on demand. if you accelerate the car with only 25% throttle, boost will be minimal ( 0 - 5 PSI), at WOT it goes to 16 PSI but it drops down once going to a higher RPM range.

With the Manual BOV, it jumps to the set PSI and the drop is minimal. Also, boost will be reached at even 25% trottle. The computer will notice this and increase fuel to protect itself from falure due to lean conditions. The end efect will be incresed HP with low MPG but the engine could feel like the power is non-proportional or peaky. This was the reason I changed to the A'PEXi and later to stage 1. Now I keep my trusty Hallman on the glove compartment and install it at the track. once done, I take it off and get back my drivability.

Just Two Cents.

Ian

I was glad to read what you all said about the gas milage,i was a bit nervus that i may have had a problem with this car to,but it is clearly not the case.

I also got free oil changes for life, but changing the oil yourself will not void your warranty! Yes, you will get less mileage during break-in, and the mileage finally starts to settle down once the engine is totally broken-in at between 12-14K miles.

You have to post the picture on a web site, and link to that in your post. It's HTML, and the same on either Mac or PC.
