was thinking about modding the strut bar (if i receive it), would changing the bolts to some type of quick disconnect type, so the bar could easily be removed for engine work, I'm not sure what the part is called but its a rod with a hole in one end, which a pin slides into.
or does the bar need to be rigid ( the bolts must be tight) Punch |

so can this be done, or does the bar's bolts need to be tight?

It will only take a few minutes to remove the nuts if you need to get to something under the bar. No big deal. Yes, the bar needs to be solidly mounted.

The whole idea of a strut brace is that it is solidly attached to the frame thru the strut tower and or other frame componets and keeps all of the front end parts in proper alignment. One reason they dont work well on some cars is that the suspension parts are so weakly attached via rubber bushings the bar can not do its job correctly!

I don't think unbolting at the strut tower is a good idea - those bolts can't take much torque...
Look at a bar like this: (Scroll down) PT Cruiser Performance Kit Number Two
