Don't expect a price before they announce availability! That is when I am suppose to find out my dyno numbers!

If the dyno numbers were stellar, somehow they would "leak out".

Does anyone know or have any ideas [:I] if this new product will be as [u]LOUD</u> as the BTG Performace Cold Air Intake System that a number of people have complained about and some have returned to the company?

Gary, I would suspect that it will be as loud as the BTG. The K&N unit is a turbo up intake replacement. The fact that there is no silencer involved and a High Flow/low restriction filter unit lends itself to intake noise. The size of the intake up pipe also has a bearing on the amount of noise that it makes. I have heard both the BTG and the AMX1397 (which I run now) and the AMX is louder than the BTG (the up pipe sizing is larger). I believe that the only aftermarket unit available right now that would not be loud is the Air Raid CAI for the GT Turbo. That unit uses the original up pipe (which is where the one of the silencers resides)and the lower half of the OEM airbox so it will not be as loud. I have not heard that system, so its only a guess on my part but that sounds logical. Thats my 2 cents.

Alan

I love the sound of the turbo engine probably as much as anyone, but this penchant for CAIs baffles me. If what our roving engineer says is true, and I will believe him untill someone proves him wrong, increasing air intake efficiency will net NO hp increase because of PCM control.
Why would a sane person spend $250 on a useless piece when there are so many other things that actually effect the performance of our PT?

Thanks, Gear_Head and Kirby for the information. If the above is is so why is it that "so many" GT owners are out there buying this "hot new" performance MOD? Anyway, based on the loudness and lack of increased HP factors don't think I will be getting one of these for my car as I am happy with my K & N drop-in performance air-filter.

The K&N drop in was the first thing that I did when I bought my PT. I have been a loyal customer for 5 different autos, yet even when asked directly, the folks at K&N would not come on this site to discuss their product. My only conclusion was, if they won't stand up for their product, it must not be worth the $$ (and $250 isn't chicken feed; 1/2 set of Yoko ES100 tires, a new boost guage installed, 1/2 of a new set of Konis, etc - all things that without a doubt are turbo enhancers.)
