Default Whats the "Burp"?

Anyone, (I'm sure there is someone out there!" can you tell me what is going on when under full throttle upshifts, (autostick) the engine seems to "BURP" during the shift then pull strong again ... It did thid before I lost the Turbo too. It seems be be worse since I regaped the plugs down from .50 as sugested in this forum.

I think that it is the boost pressure dropping down between the shifts so that when you get into the next gear, it is not as hard on the transmission. I've felt it too during WOT blasts and it sucks. I hope that the Stage 1 kit cures this.

Search your service manual for TRD torque reduction request.
During the shift, the TCM requests that the PCM retard the timing and shut down the fuel injectors.
Torque managment isn't new. GM and Mopar have been using it for several years. Cadillac has it as far back as 1994.
I designed a bypass for this annoying problem for the 2001-2002 PTs. The 2003 & newer use a different PCM and my mod circuit has been deleted.

To all:

Regarding the "burp" shift of the Auto-Stick turbos; Stage 1 fixes it!!!

Getting the Stage 1 is a no brainer. MUCH better shifts, more power in the lower gears and it responds like it should have from the factory. Best $400 performance buy I've ever made. Period!

The burp is nothing to worry about. It is a combination of High load, changing rpm and ignition. It is to be expected. Listen to a F1 car.
