Porsche comes from the factory with Mobil 1. I don't think that there will be any problem at any time. (I changed on the first interval just cause it was easier.

There have been some horror stories of older autos with a lot of miles and built up internal varnish propping up old oil seals and bearings. Add the new oil with superior cleaning additives and you know what happens...oil leaks everywhere.

Mr. Blonde,

I'm changing every 3,000 miles because that is what is required to keep my warranty intact.

If you aren't worried about the warranty, then change the oil filter every 3,000 miles, and get your oil analyzed. When the analysis comes back as "time to change the oil" then do it. You can find out more about oil analysis at www.bobistheoilguy.com which is an excellent site that covers more about oil than I knew existed.
Interesting. My dealer does my oil changes using Castrol synthetic. They tell me to have it changed every 6,000 miles. DTs_PTGT if your dealer is saying you have to change it every 3,000 miles to keep your waranty and you are using synthetic oil then they just want twice the bucks off of you for oil changes. Those changing synthetic oil at 3,000 are doing it for piece of mind and it is a waste of money. Synthetic oil is superior to dyno oil and dyno oil is recommended changed every 3,000 miles. So let me get this straight, you change a superior oil at the same interval that you do an inferior oil? I don't expect those who are changing their syn oil every 3,000 miles to agree but it is overkill.

[u]My dealer tells me the same</u> and he knows I expect full warranty coverage on my car.

Right on, GTSteve! [?] Not really an "inside joke" [)] but up front and center results (see photo below of "[u]replacement part</u>") obtained by the "full warranty coverage king"[|)] [^] [8]

because I made it clear to my [u]Five Star Dealer</u> that I did not order the "mysterious engine noise [u]option</u>" on my former 2003 Inferno Red GT! [V]

Respectfully yours, "THE KING"

I'm doing my own oil changes, so the dealer isn't getting a penny from me. I'm going by what is in the warranty manual for Schedule 'B'.

I do almost all short-trip stop-and-go driving (work is 10 minutes, school is 15 more, back home is another 30) so that puts me squarely into the 'B' schedule.

For me, $30 4-5 times a year isn't much of a cost for peace of mind. This is my first new car ever so I plan on doing all recommended maintenance. I personally drive mine hard enough that I'd want to do the changes at every 3,000 anyway.
