Going to autostick to drive is okay, but "punching it" in 4th isn't. On another PT site with lots of turbo gurus, they have a saying - "don't boost in 4th".
THe transmission is more likely to fail when loaded down in 4th - use 3rd for acceleartion, then cruise in 4th.
Also, if you're worried about the auto (and you should be) - find a place with a machine and have the trans flushed (a drop-the-pan change gets less than 1/2 the fluid) and be sure they use ATF +4 - should run $150 - $200.
It's the best single thing you can do for your tranny.
Oh, and I hope you're running synthetic oil in that GT!
