Default Is it safe to do this?

Hey guys new here First topic.

I have an 03 GT autostick, and I have a question. I race sometimes, and whenever I use the autostick, I noticed it had the faster acceleration. But once I hit about 80 and put it in 4th gear the acceleration is horrid.

Now my question. Is it safe to go from using the autostick to drive while I'm driving? I did it by accident once, and out of curiosity did it on purpose once, and nothing bad happened. But I'm sure doing something like that would hurt something under the hood.

Thanks in advance

Going to autostick to drive is okay, but "punching it" in 4th isn't. On another PT site with lots of turbo gurus, they have a saying - "don't boost in 4th".
THe transmission is more likely to fail when loaded down in 4th - use 3rd for acceleartion, then cruise in 4th.
Also, if you're worried about the auto (and you should be) - find a place with a machine and have the trans flushed (a drop-the-pan change gets less than 1/2 the fluid) and be sure they use ATF +4 - should run $150 - $200.
It's the best single thing you can do for your tranny.
Oh, and I hope you're running synthetic oil in that GT!
