That's the problem with today's engines...yes, reliability is up for the most part and emissions are down for sure...however, with so many sensors, there are bound to be problems when one fails as the computer takes over everything...
It's a real pain as a code fault could possibly mean so many different things that are probably more related to software than anything else. Cheers, LIP

I'm resurrecting this thread because I have just had this problem twice on my03 GT. The first time the position sensor was replaced. A week later it happened again. This time they checked for bad connections and measured voltages and all seemed OK. They reset the check engine light and we'll see what happens.
My car doesn't stall when the error occurs. It will miss under large changes in throttle but I can limp it home with a steady foot. The power is reduced but it will travel freeway speeds. It was suggested in an earlier post that the cause was excess heat under the hood. I doubt this was the case when it happened to me. The car had been operating for under 2 minutes after it had been parked overnight. If anyone knows anything more about this, please let me know asap. I am supposed to take the car to Vegas tomorrow and outside temps should be high. I may get an OBDII tool that allows me to do my own resets. The car seems to run fine again after its last reset.

How come nobody bothered to read the sticky on top of the thread in the Turbo forums? It's entitled "ERROR CODES" and it has the P0344 as the Camshaft Position Sensor. Exactly like MX-5 said. Could have saved somebody a lot of trouble.
There's also an "ERROR CODES" sticky in the Tech & Performance part of this forum too. ![]()

Crewzin, this is a very old thread. I don't know if the codes where there when the thread first appeared. I know the P0340 code can come up by mistake (TSB on the topic) but wasn't sure if the P0344 code was covered by the same TSB.
