Default Short Throw Shifter

Any ideas on when we are going to have a short throw shifter for the GT? I thought mopar was supposed to be releasing one...

Hurst told me that there was not enough demand for them to work on one for the GT...very rude too. I suggested that they try to watch this forum or post the question to see if there was demand...not interested.

Believe Flashbk2 used the B&M short shifter from his old PT in his GT without any problems. If thats the case, then the Hurst Shifter should fit and work as well.

Hurst replaces the entire shifter/fulcrum mechanism. It's a different setup than the B&M.

Well, we just installed booger bushings in my friends GT and a SRT-4 and the stock shifter and bracket looks to be the exact same unit as in my N/A PT, which has a Hurst installed. And all 3 cars have different 5-speeds (Getrag, T-850, and T-350). You may be right, but the Hurst Collar and shifter does appear it would bolt right in. Maybe one of the guys will buy a shifter and we would have better information to share with you.

I did use a B&M sport shifter in my GT from my '01 . I also installed "booger bushings" in the GT . I'm very pleased with the click/click with this setup .

i think the issue is that stupid reverse shift pattern on the GT. Way over left and up. Will the housing on the Hurst let you bring the shifter over that far? I know someone had one put in their GT, but had to have part of the housing drilled out to let the shifter pull that far left.

I have a hurst in my GT. You have to mod. the alum. ring that holds everything down. Geting into reverse 1 and 2 require some trimming. It took me about 2 hours to do it. It is easy and the shifts are great.

This is what pisses me off when talking to Hurst. I asked them if it could be modified in any way to make it work on a GT and they said absolutely not. I guess they were covering there asses. I like the shape of the shifter on the Hurst unit.

Cal by the way the B&M replaces the whole shifter /fulcrum also . It reuses the shifter housing and cables .
