I guess the cops up here are getting more and more bored!! I got a ticket for "improper muffler-motor vehicle"...this one is too funny. He also tried to bust my balls for the smoked plate covers.
"Is that exhaust OEM?" "No, officer...the OEM one comes out the back." "Well it's too loud." "What about that Harley that just drove by?" -No response- So they gave me a ticket anyways...but they didn't have a DB meter and my exhaust has been put through the scrutiny of the Emissions police!! Guess it's back to court for me! [} ] |

Some cops can be total idiots. They look to cause anyone and everyone problems. On a real power trip. Most are all right though, just doing their job.

harley's are harder to catch and present them with the problem of causing an increased chance of loss of life if they persue on a neglegible violation. Just my 2 cents from a former cop in northern minnesota
steve next time just say sorry , I should have shifted...ussually works, cop made the point and has less paper work. oh and yes some cops have small man's disease and the badge makes them feel bigger, as long as its not a dwi or worse 60% of the time you will get out of it with an apology with these types too. that is unless his girl just laffed at his small personality |

Sounds to me like they have your number. Tag number that is..
Maybe they monitor this site and know you by your login name and are just waiting for the opportunity to brag about getting you again. I can see it now on the local "Most Wanted (to ticket) Poster. A Picture of your car and the Login "COP TZER" below. Beneath the Poster is a list of Cop names stating the date and "offense" you were ticketed for. Sort of an unofficial police record, but more of a scorecard for them to brag about the different things they have stopped you on. [:I]

9 times out of 10 it's your (that's a general your
) attitude that gets you a ticket.I've been pulled over about a dozen times I'd say since I got my license - all for legitimate violations and never got a ticket. Save for one time driving a friends truck when I was initially pulled for speeding and he let me slide on the speeding but wrote me for light covers my friend had installed. Be Polite. Be Respectful. Be Honest. (doesn't mean confess to the lindbergh kidnapping though.) :P Don't be a smartass. Don't be self-righteous. (even IF you're right) Be a Do-Bee, not a Don't-Bee. ![]() I was in uniform patrol for about 6 years, 80% of tickets I issued were earned by the driver's attutide. We're talking minor traffic and equipment infractions here. I'll grant you there are some guys/gals out there that just live to ticket, there isn't much you can do if you get caught by one of them. Always safer (and less expensive) to err on the side of caution and be nice though. ![]() |

In all honesty, if they wanna play the game...lets go. I have yet to not take a so called "infraction" to court, where they tend to be demoted to the status of idiot. My car is completely street legal, if they wanna be ignorant pricks then i'll put them through the paces every time. They talk about trying to build some sort of relation between the car enthusiasts and themselves so they don't look like the bad guys but they keep pulling this kinda crap. And stuff like holding a sponsored drag event at a liscenced race way and ticketing for inffractions at the gates and anywhere around it! Talk about entrapment...they need to get their heads out of their asses and deal the drunk bastards leaving bars and killing people, and leave the enthusiasts the hell alone. Just needed to so some venting.

Hey Tzer . . . Thanks for being the guinnea pig for the rest of us. From what has been posted, I'm sure you will testing the knowledge of your local law enforcement.
When are you REALLY going to test em with something like a remote activated cutout pipe. They'd really have fun when they looked under your car and saw that!

![]() Check your local codes. The majority of noice violation codes have zip to do with db. Typically they are based on distance from the vehicle, in other words if they can hear it x feet away from the vehicle it's in violation. Noise Pollution laws were designed to be applied to the over-the-top car stereos but in most instances can also be applied to exhaust systems. Just because your set-up is mechanically legal doesn't mean it won't violate your local noise ordinances. That's not entrapment. Not even close. So the cops are to blame when someone with illegal mods shows up to a police sponsored event? If you're dense enough to show up to a law enforcement sponsored race event with ticketable mods you deserve every citation you get, lol. What you thought they'd just be there to hand out sno-cones? "...they need to get their heads out of their asses and deal the drunk bastards leaving bars and killing people..." I always love hearing this. They might have more resources to put toward DUI/DWI details if they didn't also have to be worried about illegal street racing or random folks "hotrodding" on city streets. Which is unfortunately becoming more and more of a problem in a great number of communities. Enthusiasts aren't the target. People with illegal and/or unsafe mods are the target. Can you honestly be shocked when the kid driving the lowered '96 Accord with 3" exhaust is pulled over and not the guy in the '84 Celebrity? Knowing which one is more likely to be using illegal mods isn't that hard. Communities push local law enforcement to make an issue of it. Painting jack-boots on cops just because they are writing folks for it is crap. Any cop, even the gung-ho jackasses, would rather be arresting someone for DUI/DWI instead having to fart around with a noise violation. |

But neither of those Aholes had me, one even go the color of my truck wrong, If I hadnt been so mad and not read the ticket untill I was halfway accross the country when I read the damn thing I would have fought that one.
