Default TRIP TO THE DYNO......lots of data...!

Went to the local Dynojet 248C....out-pulled 5 other Porsche 911s [8D]. The '03 Dream Cruiser with *auto*, BTG exhaust, and Hallman boost controller did 189.1 AT THE WHEELS - with torque at 221.8.
Chrysler drivetrain losses are 18% to 20% -- this is approx
240HP and 280 lb ft of torque at the flywheel! [}]

Some interesting items:
*Max power is produced at 86 mph in 3rd gear
*Power tapers off by *20 hp* after shifting into 4th at 1000 mph
*Air/fuel ratio is very rich - these suckers can take 15 psi boost
with no problem, BUT
*Right after a shift, engine goes a bit LEAN for 3 mph; the air/fuel ratio goes from a rich 10:1 to a leaner 12:1.

Information published in the June, 2003, issue of Road and Track reported that after a dynamometer test of the Mitsubishi TD04LR turbocharged engine in the Dodge SRT-4 (same engine as used in the 2003 PT Cruiser GT) the output at the crankshaft was 238 bhp which is 23 bhp more than than claimed by the manufacturer. The findings, after subtracting 16 bhp for drivetrain loss, showed the turbocharged engine sends 222 bhp and 246 pound feet of torque to its front wheels. When Chrysler was asked about this because they rate the GT Turbo at 215 bhp they indicated that "It's always better to be a little conservative on your power ratings."

Nice results, you must be pleased with that.

However, can you tell me what its like to go 1000 mph?

Yes he was - that dual poster is a nut, huh? He is so fast, doooooooooood.
I corrected my post

Also:

"...the Dodge SRT-4 (same engine as used in the 2003 PT Cruiser GT) the output at the crankshaft was 238 bhp which is 23 bhp more than than claimed by the manufacturer. How to account for differences; I would believe that my auto box would account for quite a bit (R&T only figured a 6% drivetrain loss!), as well as the differences in programming of the ECUs, AND car mags tend to get vehicles that are 'ringers'.

Whatcha'll think?

6% drivetrain loss is unreasonable. 10% is VERY conservative, and 12% to 18% is more likely, and that's with standard transmission. With an auto, I would add 2 points to each.

If 189 is what you saw at the wheels, then given a 15% loss, that's 222 at the flywheel. Much more reasonable. with a 17% loss, that's 228.
