Default Question for BTG Single Axle-Back owners...

Was just stowing away the install directions and noted a statement regarding the distance from the rear valance: "...you must position the muffler to provide at least 2-1/2 inches of clearance between the tip and the plastic panel..."

They add the caveat that it can be an inch closer if you have the trim accent on the valance but I'd noticed all the places I saw the trim piece for sale claims they don't fit properly on the '03 GT.

Just curious if anyone out there that doesn't have the trim piece has had any problems with heat damage from the BTG single axle-back.

I have had no problems with heat so far. I am keeping an eye on it though because the tailpipe does get VERY hot. Mine measures 1.5" away from the plastic. BTW, I will buy a trim piece if they make one to fit the 2003. Anyone know of one?

Here is a pic of my exhaust.

My exhaust is exactly like yours and as of yet, no problems...
The only diference is that mine is black on the inside, Gold on the outside but there is no mark in the body.

Is this the trim cut out peice that you are talking about?

If so, you can get them from pt-tuning , http://www.pt-tuning.com/performance...imFlanges.html

FROM THE PT-TUNING SITE . . .

Polished Stainless Steel formed to fit the stock left side opening. When ordering pairs, some cutting is required on the right side of the lower rear valence panel.

Double stick adhesive tape holds trim in place while you secure with the provided stainless steel screws.

Sorry, flanges do NOT fit the 2003 GT Turbo, Dreamcruiser or any PT with the "factory painted" bumpers.

GTSteve, I have installed the trim on my GT. It is true that the trim is slightly more narrow at the 2 ends than the GT cutout. However with careful installation it works well. I'll get some pics tomorrow and post so that you can see for yourself and decide if it's right for you......

Thanks. I've heard some people made the part work. It will be good to see for myself.
