Default Horsepower Hungry... Cruiser Ready. Please Help.

Ok, New guy here. Ive been reading some of these threads, and have pretty much already come to my hypothesis of the answers I will get... but. I have an 04' PT Cruiser GT. Hatch reads 2.4 liter High Output and its Limited Edition. This car is an auto-stick... which is umm interesting to say the least. My question lies in that I like what the car can really do in those gears three and four. But first and second are just sssllloooowwww. I was wondering what I can do to get this car to really move? Ive read where people have done complete SRT-4 swaps or just turbo swaps. I will take all advice and ideas of anything I can do to get that horsepower.
Thanks

srt swap you dont need cause you allready have it...lol

1) Stay out of overdrive (4th) as its a weak point to boost in. Use autostick all the time and shift into 4th when just cruisen
2) Get the mopar stage1
3) get a wideband and boost gauge

Then yo can move to a diablo predator and adjust the PCM for even more power but do #3 first or motor go boom!

You can also change out hardpipes, exhaust, etc...getting close to 300HP on stock motor/turbo is possible.

Replace the aluminum intake manifold with the '05 on up plastic composite intake. Parts are between $100 to $200 and it's good for about 10 HP & more torque.

to start off i would get a WB. a DSP is a great tuning device. also as stated above the 05 intake helps out some. have you looked at upgrading your turbo/ exhaust manifold/o2 housing and WGA?

you can make some nice power with a ported turbo/manifold combo and a 3" o2 housing. PTP and AGP WGAs work really well.

also PTP makes SST and S3k turbos. they take the stock turbo and rebuild it with a bigger wheel and port it out, new larger thrust bearing too. with this turbo setup, the right fuel mods and a nice tune you can do over 350hp

Thank you. Your advice has been very helpful. How much would all of this cost me? 300 hp $$?? 350 hp?? New Intake manifold $$? Real new to this whole PT cruiser thing, along with frontwheel drive motors. Could we explain the abreviations for me, greatly appreciated.

Wastegate actuator which I'll be getting from Mole shortly

Check out the thread titled New member, need suggestions.

Some great advice posted there from other forum members, and a few things of what I've done myself in the short time I've been on here.

Edit: I only say check out the thread because I'm sure the questions you're asking have been asked a million times plus so it gets boring real quick for the guys that have been around here for awhile lol I know it does for me on my audio forums when I'm answering the same questions over and over to a hundred other people

mole,

word to the wise. big wheel stocker on the 41TE atx = tranny go boom. if this is your path of choice look into beefing up your tranny. AND DO NOT BOOST IN OVERDRIVE.
