Just finished installing Booger Bushings on my 5-speed. Highly recommended mod. For $25 and about an hour's time, shifts are much more precise. Hardest part of the install for me was getting the center console over the e-brake lever and back down.
Tips: Have both front seats all the way to the rear and fully reclined to remove center console. Use a bit of grease on the post under the hood where the bigger bushing goes. This is the hardest one to re-install because of limited access. Get them at : http://www.boogerracing.com |

How hard is it to do this? Too bad you didn't take pictures. Is it hard to get the OEM bushings off. How many bushings are there? Would it be too much of a hassle to give a step by step?
Thanks, Tom

I have a set sitting on my computer desk...just waiting for an oportune time to do the install and looking for some direction on removing the console.
I also purchased the Deyemme upper-motor mount (firm) to reduce wheel hop...sounds like I have a good winters-day project ahead of me... Deen

Step by step installation:
Lift shifter boot by pressing in from the side at the base and lifting upward. (I did not completely remove my boot because I have a glued on shift knob). Remove 4 screws in console: 1 in each of the front and rear cupholders. Pull up parking brake lever all the way. Slide seats all the way back and recline them completely. Lift rear of console and pop out rear window switch panel. Unplug two connectors from window switches. Lift console from rear over parking brake lever and then over shifter shaft. I then just flipped it over and laid it on the passenger floor, didn't need to disconnect the lighter. Like I said, the hardest part was the parking brake lever. Mine just did not come up quite far enough, your's might be easier. Two of the smaller bushings are easy to get to, right there at the base of the shifter, one on each side. Pull the cable ends off the shaft, pop out the old bushing from the back with a screwdriver. Insert new bushing into cable end, push bushing over shaft. I used a pipe wrench to pop them on completely. Remaing two bushings are under the hood on top of the tranny. Loosen the air intake hose on top of the air box and slide off. Remove top of air box and filter Pull off small PCV hose from air box bottom Pull air box bottom straight up to get it out Two bushings are visible under the fuse box on top of the transmission. The small one is easy, just like the two inside. Move the shift lever to get the final (larger) bushing into an accessable location (I think I was in 2nd, but not sure). Pop out the old one and press in the new one. You'll be working blind with two hands in there. Be sure to line up the notches on the bushing with the notches on he cable end. Put a little grease on the shaft this time. I used the head of a pipe wrench to push the bushing down on the shaft by prying up against the fuse box bracket. It took me about an hour, but 20 minutes of that was grunting and swearing trying to get the console over and back down on the parking brake lever.

Congrats DoubleAce ! I did this to my GT over the summer and sent pics back to JeffB#2 . As you stated the toughest part of install is removing the floor console for access. But in my mind it's one of the best "low-buck" mods I've done to my GT.

Good info! We should have a FAQ section under GT Forums to contain all the relevent GT modification write-up information.
Anyways, I am interested in this mod and was wondering if replacing B Bushings alone without Short Shifter will give much better shifting feel than stock. Also, I see that some of you are using modified B&M Short Shifter with BB. You think it might be worth it to wait for Mopar Short Shifter to come out and do both together since you have to take the center console out. Any additional info or comments will be appriciated.

Boogers are awesome, they take soooo much slop out of the stock shifter, and make shifts that much crisper.

Does anyone have any info on the Mopar shifter? I am tired of waiting for the Hurst for GT.

yeah, getting the center console out is nuts, you really have to pull the brake lever back to get it off the console. Getting the bushings on the tranny side is tough. I actually unbolted the power control module for a little extra room. Was freaking out cause I couldn't tell if one of the bushings was fully seated. After 500mi I guess it is.
