Default Is it true?

Just bought an 04 Turbo Touring edition and was told that it doesnt have as much power as the GT from factory.

A bit miffed if this is the case, why make different power output with the turbo motor?

What is different or needs to be changed to make the GT output?

Thanks in advance

James

The 1 and only thing that is needed to hit gt hp numbers is a stage 1 which can be a bit difficult to find. But I believe there is an 04 auto stage 1 for sail in classifieds here or on ptcrew in the have and have nots section.

Oh and as to the why, not sure on details, but your turbo lite does not require premium as is, where as stage 1 lites or gt's do.

Ok im new to this pt stuff

so its safe to say that i already have the "turbo lite" as it's a turbo model right?

And a "stage 1 kit" will bump me up the 40 horse (give or take) being that mine is a claimed 180 and the GT is at 220? Turbos are the same?

Thanks again

James

Sorry, I misinformed you. With the stage 1 you will actually be higher than stock gt power level. You will have the same power levels as a stage 1 gt. Not shire what the 04 stage 1 numbers are but the 03 stage 1 is advertised as 235ish hp and 260 tq.

An '04 touring turbo makes 180 HP.
Turbo engines are identical, the computer on a "lite" causes lesser turbo boost than a GT.
Why?
The "lite" runs on regular - not premium - gas - at $0.20/gal difference.

I would stick to the turbo lite!
If my vert were just that, I might not be trading.
I am miffed every time my wallet cringes at the extra 20 cents a gallon here in OklieLand - where it should be less expensive than the rest of the country.

The power is great! But, it just makes me drive more aggressively.

I pay an extra 10 cents just to buy non-ethanol in my non-turbo. Don't know if it really does any good, but it's a feel good thing. Down here in Florida, the jump to Premium grade from Regular is at least 30 cents and I've seen the difference up to almost 50 cents at some crooked stations.

Back to the subject, like Hooligan mentioned, a little research would have revealed the two different outputs of the Turbo motors. 180hp ain't that bad and with a couple of the smaller mods you can bump it up a bit. Unless your into beating everyone away from the stoplight, and the fastest one down the highway. That will get you meeting some of my friends in green, or maybe blue where you come from.
