Question Timing belt kit/GATES Part # TCKWP265C

I read through many threads and haven't come across anyone using this kit for their 2005 convertible/turbo. Do I have the correct kit? I also wasn't sure about the Steel Open Impeller, not sure what this means? I think I'm close to getting all the parts I need to having a happy running car again. Any feedback again would be greatly appreciated.

I put a Gates kit like that on my wife's 01 N/A and everything went fine. All the parts look well made (I remember the water pump was made in japan)..and it cost about $120 less than OEM

Question Re: Timing belt kit/GATES Part # TCKWP265C

Is there anything I need to be aware when it comes to Steel Open Impeller? I'm not sure what this thing does? Can anybody give me the green light toward buying this kit? Thanks for the help.... XtrmDC2 sounds like this may just work. I was hoping to get more feedback before pulling the trigger and buying this kit......

The impeller is the water pump. There is steel - I believe stainless steel, stamped, then there is cast (aluminum), and plastic.

Personally, I would go with the steel part over aluminum or plastic. Simply b/c steel is more durable.

Thanks for all the feedback everyone. I'll go ahead and buy the kit. I just hope everything goes as planned when I get it replaced. I read to many stories with the complexity of doing this job.

Question Re: Timing belt kit/GATES Part # TCKWP265C

Well I finally got the repairs needed for my car done yesterday. The car runs nice and I don't have the rattle that I was experiencing before. The motor mounts definitely helped get rid of the rattle noise.

Now this may seem funny but I'm not sure how the car should feel. I've always had focused on the rattle which drove me nuts. The car seems to idle fine but I still have a little vibration which I'm not sure if that's normal?

Before taking the car back from the mechanic he had my car hooked up to some gadget and said everything was running perfect. He even turned on the ac while testing and said numbers were still coming back fine.

The thing is when in park I feel a small vibration. When I put it in drive you feel it a little more in the steering wheel and a little throughout the car. I have had everything done with this timing belt kit, motor mounts, and bushings. I've also have done a tune up. Anything else I should look for before heading back to the shop or is it just me?

Again thanks for any feedback you can provide...

What spark plugs and wires do you have ? Also, aluminum or plastic intake mainfold?
