Default Dealer price for BOV install?

Hey gang,

I'm going to be purchasing the Mopar BOV, and was curious as to what the dealer might be asking for to install it. Have read the number of install pains regarding the DIY installation, and I'd just like to get an idea of how much to save up for after having my fingers reattached while trying to get at the ominous "3rd bolt". [xx(]

Any insight?

Most dealers probably won't do the install. Not a factory item.

If you don't want to install it yourself, take it to a small garage, or performance shop, they be glad to help you out. Either that or grab a case of beer and DIY, that way if you cut up your knuckles you won't feel it as much

Our local dealer wanted $150 to do the install, so I asked my husband to do it instead. He said it was kind of hard, but he did it. It took him about 1 1/2 hours, but he said he worked very slowly and carefully, and he didn't have anything to raise up the car to install from underneath. Anyway, he loves to "work" on my PT, even though he is definitely NOT a mechanic! It's my baby, but his toy!

Maybe you could do the install yourself. He said it's good if you have a socket wrench and small hands, and make sure the engine is cold. We plan to have Chrysler just check the tightening of the bolts when we take it in for the next maintenance, just to be sure.

He says it is a good mod, but I will have to get used to the funny sound.

definetly easy install but can be frustrating make sure your engine is cold or you will more than likely burn yourself

if they do, they will charge you through the nose for it...
If you know someone who is handy with a car, has ramps and a ratchet set, you can do it yourself for free.

Thanks for the input everyone,

Fortunately I have several socket sets and a pair of ramps (just don't know if the incline is small enough, though...have to check). The small hands might be an issue, but it seems that I just might try to tackle the job myself...especially with projected labor costs like those mentioned! [:0]

I'll just keep 'er cold and hope for the best!

Besides, I'm sure with the great crowd in here, if I run into obstacles along the way, I'll be able to find some assistance in the forums!

Thanks again everyone! [^]

Helps to have a set of hands holding the oil line out of your way while tightening that third bolt...
...

Just checked. 4 days later and my scratches are starting to go away

I could not use a socket on bolt 3. You need a small wrench. I could only use a 1/4" socket set on the others. It is very close in there. It helps if you take a major screwdriver and VERY SLIGHTLY bend the oil line that blocks bolt 3 to the side.
