Default cold air intake and cat back exhust

after reading the posts on above i have come to the conclusion that the HP icrease with these nods on a stock 03 tubro result in avery little gain in HP. am i correct?

How would you classify a 15 HP gain?

IMHO this is a significant gain. [|)] I estimated approximately a 10 HP gain after installing a straight-through exhaust and drop-in K&N air filter on my '04 stock turbo engine. What do you think? I noticed an improvement in turbo "spool up"/acceleration. [8)]

but macster, our own 3bar has said mopar/chrysler/dodge left little room for improvement on the intake side of things...

Punch while I value 3bars opinion it's not gosphel and understand his job and livebeing depends on DC. I know he's got an engineering degree and all ,but he's not the 2.4l turbo guru . Mac's dyno results show a substantial improvement over the stock airbox with both K&N and his own/amx style mod. Unfortunately you and I are running BTG intakes which we have no dyno results for .

One of the reasons that I posted the graphs and readout sheets was to provide data for the improvements of the Stage1 and the CAI in the hope that some of the people here would provide comments on what it all meant. Anyway, I'm still looking at the graphs. According to the printouts you do gain HP but lose a bit of torque. Another interesting observance is that the stock airbox out performs the CAI's up to 2900 RPM. It out performs the baseline K&N Typhoon up to up 3552 RPM. Based on what I've gleamed from this, it looks like the CAI's are better for top end performance and the stock airbox is the way to go for low end. [:I]
I will be buying a drop in K&N filter to see if that is the best of both worlds, after that I am going to try the MOD that MeanGreen came up with. Finally, I am going to do another dyno run, but at a different place.

peace

10 sounds like a winner! The drop in K&N may be the way to go, e.g. the best of both worlds, that is you get the low end performance of the stock airbox, plus the high end performance of the K&N. At least that what I'm thinking as I look at the data. [:I]

ummmm....sure. But try raising the boost with the stock exhaust and intake, and your car will go no where. You need these mods for your raised boost to be at its best. I just put my stock exhaust on for the winter, and the car was a slug with the raised boost on stock exhaust. Plain and simple it just doesn't flow enough

Take a look at the low end readings on my dyno run "read-out" with the stock setup you are pulling more HP and Torque at the lower RPM's. Also take a look at the boost readings. My take from the reading is that with Stage1 a stock airbox would get you off the line quicker and faster. This was my experience with the cars at the PT Invitational. They had more low end grunt than my car, but I had more pull on the top end.
