well, i am at 30K and have NO clutch problems. I wouldn't suggest doing it out of every light, but for a weekend warrior it shouldn't pose to many problems. But it all depends on the driver of course.

You do not need to let off the throttle to shift with Stage 1 ("power-shifting")with the 5-spd. You lose precious tenths of a second by letting off the throttle between shifts although it IS harder on your drivetrain to do so. I leave between 2000-2400 RPM also and slip the clutch. Leaving harder than that usually produces wheel-hop. According to the SRT4 forums changing the upper motor-mount ( or all motor-mounts AND tranny mount)to a firmer poly motor-mount helps cure the wheel-hop problem. I purchased a firm upper-mount but have yet to install it since the drag-tracks around my area are closed until spring.
It will be really interesting to see how our Cruisers will be able to get the power to the ground with S2 especially if we're lucky enough to get the "Toys" and the additional 15 HP the Toys bring (race-fuel switch). On my best run so far (14.90 ET) I spun in first and second gear and even chirped the tires in 3rd. (power-shifting)...what's another 30-45 HP going to do? Chirp the tires in 4th??? This should be a really fun summer...BRING ON S2!

MEXICANPT, what tire pressure where you running? Most Cruisers and SRT4's are getting best results running 23-25 lbs. air pressure in the front (stock tires) at the track.

Uhh Deen

RE" best run so far" you list (14.90 ET) but your signature states 14.40, so which is it? As far as launching I'm with you, the RPM's on the launch are critical. It very important to find that RPM range that you launch at and not spin. For me (autostick) its about 1500 RPM)

I'll try all of this, one more thing though, how many miles will my clutch last if I do this often?
Do you mean often as in every stoplight or often as in weekend warrior? While any time you slip the clutch it will wear more, if you just make a couple of runs on a weekend yuur clutch should still live a long and happy life. Maybe not as long as your abuela's clutch, but still acceptable.

I plan on doing it every other weekend, so that shouldn't be a problem.

My PT is my first car with a 5speed so i was just wondering exactly what "slipping" the clutch meant?

letting the clutch out only part of the way momentarily and then releasing it fully. ie; 1/4 ofthe way then half the way 3/4's and then all the way. insterad of just reving and releasing.

McMaster,

Woops, guess my fingers got ahead of my brain. 14.40 ET is my best so far and that was using the "spring trick" with S1
