Default 2 1/2" Exhaust

I'm getting ready for Stage 2 so I'm about to change my exhaust to 2 1/2". I know Stage 2 requires a 2 1/2" catback system. I would do one with a resonator and no muffler. I thought about going with a straight pipe, but figured that would be too loud. Would there be any benefit going 2 1/2" all the way to the turbo with a high flow cat? Would a high flow cat be better than the OEM one or is the OEM one comparable to a high flow cat? If there isn't any real benefit to going 2 1/2" all the way to the turbo then I'll do just a catback exhaust. I'm looking for a muffler shop that does mandrel bends, but no luck so far. I'm amazed at how many don't. Appreciate everyone's comments. Want to do the exhaust right and not waste money. Still saving for Stage 2 [8)]

3BarBoost has posted that the Mopar 2 1/2" cat-back is all that is needed for S2 or power levels up to 300 HP (which would even cover the base or non-modded S3). I checked with TThrift and he's selling the Mopar cat-back for $399. Borla makes the cat-back exhaust for Mopar. They have a number of versions in a 2 1/2" cat-back (duals and single) and also with a European muffler (close to stock noise level) or American muffler (louder/deeper). I haven't found anyone selling the Borla versions as inexpensively as what you can buy from Tommy (TThrift).

Also, I couldn't find where it was posted, but I think I remember 3BarBoost saying the GT cat is already a hi-flow cat...3BarBoost, is this correct?

Well I have 2.5" from the CAT to the muffler, I dunno if it helped or hurt. But I do pull very well from the MID to the TOP end.

I remember a post by 3bar that said the CAT was 2/3 of the restriction in the exhaust or something to that effect. Not sure if a high flow would also be this restrictive?

I also contacted ATR about their 2.5" exhaust and they told me their exhaust would not work on a lowered car. I wonder how the other 2.5" / 3.0" exhausts fit?

ptgtcb,
If it's true the 2.5" or 3" do not fit lowered cars...then they won't be selling many of them. I bet a large majority of us that mod for power also lower for looks or cornering ability. I'll let you know in a week or so since I'm lowered with BTG springs and have just ordered the Borla 2.5" cat-back with single drivers side outlet (didn't want duals). Guess I should of asked FIRST if it would fit a lowered car...

I also have the Mopar/Borla 2.5" duals and a 3" Exhaust Depot downpipe and am lowered with the Eibach Pro-Kit, also no problems.
