Angry Twisted turbo shaft

My 2005 PT Cruiser Touring 2.4 L with Turbo lost power recently. Found the shaft in turbo right behind the exhaust turbine had twisted off. Replaced it with one from salvage yard. This one bent the shaft and the nut came off the end of shaft. I had the turbo rebuilt with all new parts and within 30 miles, the shaft is bent again with the nut missing and the fins messed up. Oil supply line and drain line are not clogged. Computer read-out showed catalytic system, but catalytic converter is not clogged. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is the compressor bypass valve working?

Unless you can remove the o2 sensor and plug a device there to test the back pressure, you can't say the catalytic converter is not clogged.

Sorry to hear that you are having troubles. Review the PT Cruiser Turbo User's Guide linked below for details on these unique turbochargers.

Even though your oil supply line might not be visibly clogged it could still have deposits on the inside walls which will break free and clog the bearing holes. Always replace the line when replacing turbos to avoid future issues. For $30. it is a sound investment.

Don't hesitate to contact us when you are ready to replace your turbo or should you just need further assistance.
