Default Finally got on the Dyno...@@Dyno Scans@@

Well, I finally got on the Dyno this afternoon.

Car: 2003 Dream Cruiser Series 2 w/20k miles
Mods: None on first run.K&N Drop-In on run 2 & 3.
Temp: Run 1 - 69.9, Run 2 - 70.9, Run 3 - 72.2.
Barometric Pressure: 29.1 Inches
CF: 1.00 on Run 1, then 1.01 on Runs 2 & 3
Peak Torque was acheived at 3220 RPM
Peak HP was acheived at 5000 RPM

Run # 1: This was done with the car at aperating temperature. The car still had the original paper air filter installed at the factory.

Run # 1 Results: Peak HP=180.0 Peak Torque=215.6

Run # 2: This was done the same as Run # 1, but I changed out the paper air filter for a K&N Drop-In fresh out of the box.

Run # 2 Results: SURPRISE SURPRISE Peak HP=178.2 Peak Torque=227.1 (Correctd to 179.98 & 229.37)

Run # 3: This was done with the K&N Drop-In Filter, and I disconnected the Negative Battery Cable to reset the PCM and put it in 'Learning Mode'.

Run # 3 Results: SURPRISE AGAIN Peak HP=182.8 Peak Torque=235.5(Corrected to 184.63 & 237.86).

I should have the graphs scanned by tomorrow or Monday and posted.I knew resetting the PCM helped at the track, but I didn't know it would help me that much on the torque side.

I know these are hard to read due to the light colors.

Here's my Dreamer on the dyno:
http://ptenthusiasts.org/PTForums/at...chmentid=14295

My results are:

hp = 190.3
torque = 214.7

That's with a #42 nitrous and a #18 fuel jet.

We all need to pray to the great gearhead in the sky!
"Keep those powdered metal rods from bending!"

This is NOT a turbo PT.

Man

Those are good numbers. I figured my corrected HP by the following:

I assumed that my car was performing per the Stage1 figures, so my assumed HP was 235. I then took the WHP lets say 185. and divided that into 235 and came up with a factor of 1.27. I then used that figure to multply my WHP by, in order to get my actual HP. I then divided the 185 by the 235 and got .787234. I changed this to a negative number and added 1 to it, which gave me.212766 or a figure of 21% for pwr train loss. So if I took and subtracted 21% from the published HP (215HP) for the PT cruiser I would get a WHP of 169.85 which would be what I would expect a stockPT GT to produce. If I took and subtracted 21% from the 235HP figure for S1 I would expect to see 185.65 at wheels when I dynoed it. If you have a stick, I think that you should use a figure of 15-18% for drive train loss which would make you come out to 182.75WHP stock. Keep in mind that I was under the impression that higher math meant that I could count to 20, using both hands twice.

TripleJack, what about the airbox silencers?

Post/e-mail to me the tables (not the graphs) and I will put the stats in Excel with macster's. Make sure they are level when you scan them. .TIF file format is the best, but anything will work.

Tripple,
You have just uncovered evidence for what 3Bar has been telling us all along. Our sneaky PCM is trying to limit power output. The lower restriction in your first run still let a higher torque rating slip through, but the last run where you let the PCM run free sealed the test.
Now, the question at hand is: will the StageI or the StageII PCM also limit power output?

Macster - Thanks for making my brain hurt.

Rolo - Yes, I forgot that I had removed the silencers in the airbox.I'll post the info from the runs on the Cardomain site as soon as I get a chance to get them scanned.

Kirby - Yes, my experience with Dakota R/Ts tells me that the Speed Density System that we use will always try and 'fix' any mods that you have done, thus reducing their effectiveness.

I was pretty satisfied with the results on the dyno, but like always, you can never have enough.

C'mon Stage II !!

Why is it all ways me? It's always the poor and down trodden that suffer? Okay just multiply 1.27 X 182.8 = 232HP for you, which is about right seeing how I gained 15HP with the K&N Typhoon. if we add another 20HP for Stage1 you would have 202.8 WHP, Is your car an autostick. I posted that calulations in the hope that someone would say go do it this way e.g. X=(x-1/x) or something like that.

Hehe........no worries, Bro.

I understand now how to get the corrected HP figure, but as far as what the actual FHP is, is another story.
The only way to truly know what the FHP is, would be to know exactly what the parasitic loss is thru the driveline. You're FHP numbers are based on assumptions, but I would really like to know what the true loss is to get a true #.
Now for all I know, someone from DC (maybe 3BarBoost) posted that info at some point, and if he did, I just missed it, which is entirely possible.
