Unhappy Possible broke timing belt help please

2003 PT Cruiser GT Turbo 139,000 miles.

I was driving about 15mph when the car sputtered and died two blocks from home. Turned key had power, heard the fuel pump prime, starter turned farly fast but nothing else. pushed car home checked for engine codes and came back with...0016, 1188, 0440, 0522, 0340...descriptions as follows
0016 cam/crank misalignement, 1188 EDT sensor CKT high voltage, 0440 EVAP system, 0522 engine oil pressure switch low voltage, and 0340 camshaft (cmp) position sensor circuit.

(My pcv valve is broke off at threads flush with the valve cover and I have a replacement which explians one code I noticed that yesterday and got a new one but was having trouble getting the broken threads out of the valve cover to instal the new one.)

After checking engine codes I tried to restart the car and now it sounds like the starter is engaging and turning the engine but still not cranking. I removed two screws from the top timing belt cover and pryed it open just a little to see the belt I marked the belt with a paint marker and tried bumping the key a couple time to see if the mark would move which it has not. I am not sure if this would be a way to tell if the timing belt is broke or not. If anybody has any imput I would be very grateful. I bought the car used from a single owner and he stated that it was changed along with water pump at 95,000 miles but I have no proof. I am hoping maybe cam/crank sensor but I don't think I will be that lucky. If anybody knows of anyway to test the sensors or another test for timing belt with out tearing down. Thanks in advance for any help!

Read this post. It will tell you another way of see if the belt is broke and a way of testing the sensors.

Finangle that cover off.

Remove #1 spark plug.

Rotate engine until #1 is at TDC (Check with a long screwdriver, don't let anything drop in please)

Timing marks will be lined up (either the "UP" is up or upside down, doesn't matter as long as BOTH are the same.

Have someone crank the engine while observing the belt. If it doesn't move, the front of the engine will have to be opened up and serviced.

Starter turning almost freely is your clue your timing belt broke.

Time to tear it down and fix it.
