Two 1 3/4" pipes will flow more exhaust than one 2.5". I am not an engineer but I think that the reason why the Mopar design includes the so called "octypipes" is to insure that the flow will be equal out both tail pipes.
You have 1 in and 2 out not to mention the exhaust has to turn around in the muffler and twist and turn to exit the 2 tail pipes, this is very restrictive.
The btg dual is single up to a low restriction y pipe and out the tail pipes, relatively straight through. The btg axle back is straight through. The magna flow single is straight through. ATR is straight through. Less restriction more power, but, more noise. It just depends on what you want.
Please understand that I am not trying to slam your system. I am sure it is a good system looks, sound and performance. I just do not understand why MP would say we need a 2.5" system for stage 2 and turn around and sell us a 2 3/8 system with a muffler and 1 3/4" tail pipes when the ultimate goal is power?

If I remember right "pipe" and "tubing" are measured differently.

Pipe is measured on the ID...and tubing is measured on the OD. Hence your 2.5" exhaust tubing has an outside diameter of 2.5". When you say Mopar is really selling you a 2 3/8" system that is not really correct, because the "OD" is 2.5" just like they say it is. If you measure your stock GT exhaust system you'll find it measures 2.25" OD so you really are jumping up a quarter inch in diameter.

You are correct. Most if not all 2.5" systems are actually 2 3/8 I.D. So the tail pipes on the Mopar CAT back are actually 1 5/8 even smaller. My main point is that the Mopar system is not straight through and is more restrictive, period. I would say the btg axle or CAT back system or any straight through exhaust for that matter will flow better than the Mopar CAT back system!

The biggest restriction in the exhaust is from the turbo, o2 housing and CAT. I feel the most benefit would be to open up the CAT as large as possible and using a straight through resonators +/or muffler.
As far as losing low end torque any thing that will allow the turbo to spool quicker is going to build low end torque and top end power.

Just my 2 cents worth

edit;Changed opinion on exhaust size.
