Build-Your-Own MBC
For anyone interested, it's insanely easy and cheap to build your own ball/spring MBC. I built mine for $4, all from my local hardware store.
1 x 1/4 - 1/4 brass female hose barb
1 x 1/4 - 1/4 brass male hose barb
1 X spring
1 x ball bearing (sorry, forgot the size)
Drop the bearing into the female barb. Flare the end of the spring so it seats nicely in the male barb. screw the 2 together (the tighter, the higher the boost). If you start off with a long spring, you can trim back coils on it to reduce the pressure as well. Put a very small air bleed between the MBC and the WGA (to allow the WGA to close when the MBC closes and seals the line to WGA at peak pressure). You could drill the bleed into the barb, but I just used a spereate plastic barbed coupler wiht a small bleed hole I already had on hand. To make the MBC easier to adjust, look for swivel fittings and a lock nut.
My very first attempt, with no adjustments (yet): 15psi peak, drops to around 12. I bypassed the factory WGA solenoid completely.
