Question SDK Exhaust Mani Upgrades

So, I was wondering who has messed with this Mani? I'm looking into doing a big turbo upgrade suggested by a PTCrew member and I was looking into this Exhaust Manifold by them:

SDK Motorsports :: Mopar :: SRT-4 :: Port & Polish :: External WGA Exhaust Manifold

How could I tell what kind of External WGA would work? I'm new to this WGA thing so yeah. Any help is appreciated!

Tial, enough said.

What turbo are you going with exactly? That looks to be like a stock exhaust manifold modded for an external WGA.

Rather than going through SDK (heard good AND bad things about them), I went with the used route. However, mods to consider to the manifold are ported+polish and most importantly, getting the elbow cut and replaced with a bigger diameter elbow. The stock one is a nasty bottle-neck.

Anyway, there's one member here that got their turbo ported/ceramic coated and they were happy with the results. He later sent it off for the Enforcer bigger wheel upgrade. However, I've read on the SRTForums (few guys I know personally) and they had bad experiences with them.

Well, I was planning on a big turbo kit from AGP, but Cheftank over at PTCrew told me I could take a Garrett turbo (Has not been confirmed on what type) and I could swap the turbo's. Here's what he said,

"not saying the others arent capable and reliable BUT if you go the garret route you can upgrade easily by only switching turbos (others require manifold swap etc)" This is not excluding the FM E1's & E2's.

Link to Thread is: PTCrew.com - Learn it or Burn it.

(If this is true) I was thinking it would be an even better setup with a ported exhaust mani.

Any turbo will benefit from a ported exhaust manifold, but also do the elbow mod.

External WGA will yield much better boost control.

Keep us posted with whatever you use.

I will, I'm waiting on a reply from Cheftank to get more info. I don't want to go into this blindly. Thanks for your help Kawiz, I'll look into the elbow mod.

Post Re: SDK Exhaust Mani Upgrades

I've been cleared up by all my confusion. As I continue to learn more on this, I'll keep people posted.

I thought you could literally take out the stock turbo's we have and install an aftermarket turbo on the stock exhaust manifold. I am confused because people told me that you can replace the stock turbo with the FM E1 turbo, but from what I've been told you can't(?)

I'm still learning excuse my ignorance people!

Thanks,

-Jimmy

The difference between Forward Motion's E1 and the stock turbo is merely a bigger wheel and ported turbo.

Physically, it bolts right back into place so I don't know why someone told you that you can't unless you misunderstood. If they said you can't, they probably meant because you will also need "supporting" mods such as tuning/fuel upgrades/exhaust/monitoring gauges/etc.

I try to be as thorough as possible when replying to others to prevent such misunderstandings.
