Question Intake Mani Swap

I have a friend with a first gen neon swapped with srt4 motor and he was telling me about swapping out my intake mani with an srt4 or 2.0 neon DOHC intake mani.

I've read that the srt4 swap involves custom fab making it not worth the hassle.

But who here knows about the 2.0 swap? He tells me that a few PT guys over at neons.org have done it, but I was wondering if anyone here has done it. I have googled it and has gone to PTCrew and used their search, but it didn't work out to well.

I'm going to assume it will make a difference considering people have done it.

Also, where can I find some slimmer aftermarket fans for the PT?

Thanks,

-Jimmy

Jimmy, can't answer your questions but you'd be a heck a lot better off going for the PT Composite intake off the newer PT Turbo's. I take it you have the metal one. The composite takes very little work to make it fit, adds about 10hp (what I'm told) and you don't have to buy another slimmer fan. The SRT intake can't add that much more than the new composite intake but it's a heck of a lot more trouble to add to the PT.

You'll have a hard time finding aftermarket fans for an 03 GT, since we have those expensive radiator fans only found in that year GT.

I plan on doing the Plastic Swap, but I wanted to see what people thought about the 2.0 swap. Also, I was asking about a replacement slim radiator fan because ours are heavy from what I hear.

Thanks you guys!

You could try 'pusher' fans if there's enough room.
My buddy found the smallest one he could find for his Neon and says it works ...
(Neon isn't a PT, Neon isn't a PT, Neon isn't a PT)
There's; The Jeep Liberty manifold, 'o1 up Stratus, original and 'Low Rumble' old 2.4, a really junk aftermarket, the Cvan, the turbo manifold and-
As for the DOHC Manifold, it has very short runners.
(Without integrated water neck)

The (DOHC) 2.0 will produce useable power up to ~7500 RPM Stock (kinda) and on a perfect day you might shift at 7800
- Unless you have very long duration cams a 2.4 just isn't going to do that, and needs longer runners.
Here's a 'stock' one:

'01 and up head used a different intake manifold bolt pattern, but that hasn't really stopped anyone.

Over the years we've tried dozens of different configurations;

THis was on our 2.2:

Oh, and it was a turbo- Sorry- turbo heads don't seem too concerned with runner length

Question Re: Intake Mani Swap

Since this is solved I have a quick question. A friend told me to look into a stage 1 and a dsp since I am 5speed would that be necessary? Or what? Thanks guys.

Don't have the Turbo from what I know they don't make the Stage 1 anymore so it's hit and miss if you can find one. What I do know, it that because you have the 5-speed, the Diablo Predator (might be spelled wrong) is the perfect upgrade for performance for your car. Hopefully someone will come along with more information on it for you.

Yeah, from what I understood was the if you are auto a stage 1 is a must, but 5-speed DiabloSport Predator is the way to go.

Just didn't know if I should get both or not. I see that Gus has/will have both.

Thanks for all your help Crewzin!
