Default Finally went down the 1/4 mile

Well I finally decided to go down the 1/4 mile
I got a 15.45 with only a composite intake and bov
Don't know if that's good or not but I had a blast

Oh and I hope I posted this in the right section

I don't know if it's the right forum or not, but would like a little more info on your Cruiser: year, turbo?, etc.

My first set of runs averaged around 15.5 before I started tuning. Then after our first tuning session she averaged 14.7, nice pick up. After going through the custom tune with Nemo at RageTek, we got her down to 13.7, then blew out the right front half shaft and hit the retaining wall just after the 60' mark...sigh...

Now, all new, all Stage 3, but haven't had the time or money to get back on the dyno again. Likely to take her down this summer to Ft. Lauderdale and visit Nemo again, he's a friggin genius on both the PT's and the SRT-4's.

Thanks to all for the info. I also have a 2003 turbo with AutoStick, and was impressed with its pickup from the outset. And have wondered what its time in the 1/4 would be.

I've owned four cars in my almost 69 years, a '66 Mustang (which I still have), a '73 Gran Torino sport with 351 Cleveland, 4-barrel and dual exhaust, an 83 T-Bird with "5.0" V8, and the Cruiser. The Cruiser wins hands down in the acceleration category, although that will change when I swap out the crummy 2.80 rear end in the Mustang. The T-Bird had a 3.08; not sure about the Torino. But I did peg the Torino's Tach a couple of times, 6000 rpm, I think, but could have been 8000. That Cleveland would scream, but I had all kinds of problems with it because that was when they were just starting to put all the pollution stuff on. And evidently Ford didn't' really know what they were doing at the time. I finally swapped out the Ford carb for a Holley and got it to running fairly well.

interesting to see what was considered fast back then doesn't seem so fast now. I'm still an old muscle car fan though

had a Torino version of the elcamino I think it was called a El Rancharo or maybe just Ranchairo?????
it had a 351 cleveland in it i put a eldenbrock 650 changed the cam and had 383 geares man that ford would scream off the line
Im pretty sure even a turbo PT would not stay with that car IF you could hook up with no weight it sure liked to slip the tires

Tires were really bad back then-
NO traction, which is key to 1/4 mile times.

Back then, if you were a serious racer, you used the WIDE Mickey Thompsons. I modified a "shucks" ton of wheel wells to make those work.
