gt and limited or touring difference

what is the difference between 215 h.p gt and 180 h.p. touring or limited models? internals, or pcm? if pcm, then stage one or two will even things with the gt.

First off the 2004 are now 220 hp cause of bigger injectors and new PCM. Difference between the 180 hp is in the PCM as it is less aggresive so the 180 hp can use regular gas. Yes, with stage 1 or stage 2 the 180 hp and 220 hp will have same output. Hope this helps U!

thanks, irpt. i just got my hands on an '04 touring turbo for 16k with no miles. seemed like a better deal than the gt considering the upgrades planned.

Also, the GT is equiped with an auto-stick (assuming you are comparing automatic transmisions). I believe the auto stick won't shift you to 4th gear at 4000 RPM's (when your on 3rd). In theory, a stage 1 or 2 turbo limited/touring edition models will have a slower 1/4 mile time compared to an auto GT stage 1 or 2 (because of the transmission programing). However, I can be wrong and the stage 1 or 2 programing eliminates the downshifting of automatics on "D"

You can read more on the 5-Speed vs Auto thread on the GT's time on "D" and Autostick, its about 0.4 sec difference.

The best person that can answer the 1/4 mile time (Stage 1 Limited/Touring/Platnum vs. GT Stage 1 Autosick) might be Mike_of_Orange since his Platnium Series is going to receive a stage 1 mod.
