I'm considering Stage 1 (big step for this old guy) I have heard all the good things on S1, I would like to hear of any negative points on this system.

Other than the warranty issue, I see NO downside. [8)]

Gary, I would agree, the warranty issue is the only issue. I have has S1 since it first came out and am very happy with it.

I have read that with S1 there is a "significant" improvement in gas mileage, the autostick shifts are even smoother, and (or course) MORE POWER! S1 sounds like a great overall performance improvement--RIGHT? Worth the money for 15-20 HP increase?? [:I]
Now, if only the warranty issues could be solved--got my dealer working on this and hope to have a definite answer by this summer (or sooner) as to whether or not he will provide full warranty coverage. [8)] |

Am I correct in understanding that Stage 1 will not pass state inspection where the inspection includes reading the ECM (OBDII)? I understand 3BarBoost's hints that Stage 1 will pass the sniffer, but in my area in Texas they plug the test machine into the computer (with a direct link to the state) to test the emissions. Sniffer is only used on 1996 (I believe) and older cars here.
If true it's a non-starter for me getting Stage 1. |

Not true on the S1 not passing. My brother just had his done and I will have mine done on Thursday. I am in PA and they do plug in and do send to the State DMV. It is a non issue as long as you have not thrown any codes. No worries here.
