Default 2 important questions!!

1) Why can't I get my GT to boost over 14psi??

I have a Turbo XS HPBC manual boost controller, and no matter how much i turn it up i can't crack 14 psi!!! I have the MBC vauum source running from the throttle body, and the other end connected to the wastegate actuator, just as TXS instructed; so what gives???

2) Why does the AMX 1397's "burst of power" mod not work when the stock Diverter valve is disconnected??

I have a Turbo XS RFL-H BOV installed on my GT. When i am only running my bov, this mod does not allow me to spike up to around 20psi; it only works with the stock DV connected.

Thanks guys

Cop, When I installed my aftermarket BOV I discussed the setup for the surge valve with Hector from Exhaust depot. He suggested that rather than cap off the Surge valve, to connect to a constant boost source so thea the surge valve will never open. I connected the vacum line from thr surge valve to the intake manifold plenum. Maybe that setup will help with your situation. I don't boost past 15 lbs of boost so I don't know if this will help you or not. But it is easy to try. I used a T fitting, capped off the leg from the SV solenoid and connected directly to intake manifold with one of the 2 legs left and the surge valve with the other leg. Give it a try & see if it helps.....

I am running 18lbs of boost and here is where i am connected and beleave me the amx1397 intake does work,
1. at the wastegate there is a orange or brown vac line ( looking over the engine at the turbo) disconnect that line and put the mbc in line." note" (if you have no control) it is backwards, it must be almost closed to up the boost, the boost gauge can be almost anyplace on the intake manifold a port of it's own would be the best. to go over 14 lbs of boost without getting the p1188 ,,just before your throttle body, on the hadr plastic part of the host to the throttle body, there are two connections one elect, and the other is boost pressure to your pcu,, disconnect that rubber lind cap off the niple and just lay the 1/8 plastic hose wherever you want . now go play.....and then tell me the amx1397 intake does not work( maybe you are not paying it enough.

My MBC is running direct manifold pressure. That is working very well, except i can't pull more tan 14psi.

AMX, i tried your mod exactly the way you instructed, but what was happening was this. I would go partial throttle, a little more open throttle, drop to original throttle, then punch it. I would jump from 14-15psi up to 23-24psi. It leaned out, and resulted in lots of backfiring; i can hear it because i have no mufflers so i'm sure.

I then tried turning the spike down to 20-21psi. Using the same technique to get it to spike, it wouldspike and still lean out a little.

So, by disconnecting the TIP sensor, you are tricking the computer into thinking that there is only so much boost, when in fact there is way more, so it doesn't throw a code. Would this not result in leaning out, since the copmuter is putting in less fuel because it thinks there is less boost???

As i described above, i tried this mod and it kept leaning out.

OK at mid throttle your boost goes up to high, , i just tried that and mine too I have NEVER driven at 1/2 throttle before it was wot or nothing, I see that if you cruise at 40 mph and ease up to like 60 the boost goes way up so to correct this either punch it and then let off or ease down on the throttle for 20 or so seconds and then let off, but when i go wot my boost goes to 18 and stays until it shifts(auto) then drops to about 15 then climes back to 18 and repetes on each gear, when cold it is more . turn yours down about 4 clicks, try not to go above 20 lbs of boost. where is your boost connected, if you are on the tip niple you will read more boost because of the rubber hose expanding, do you have a vacuum/boost guage or just boost., also turn your mbc around from what you are sayinf it may be in backwards, when you have it off blow on it you will blow freely one way and very little the other, that way you know it is working, also if you pinch off the line it will give you full boost, and you may be doing that(your mbc may be closed, and you eng boost works with throttle position. I think maybe you better call me because i just read what i though i said and i hav confussed myself..954 336 3405

Do you still have your #2 solenoid hooked up? Install the mbc between the turbo and the wga bypassing the #2 solenoid. Install it as if it were the # 2 solenoid. It works. Go to srtforums.com and search cali, scottmech or Cav91GT and check their proven mbc installs. Dual stage automatic boost controller is the way to go!

As far as I know, the PCM is using the MAP sensor for your fueling needs... At least this is the sensor the various fuel piggybacks use.

I know a lot of people say that the TIP is not used with stage 1, you can just unplug it with stage 0, etc .. I have perpetuated this as well.. but doesn't stage 3 include a new 3 bar TIP? that makes me think that it IS used for more then just detecting part throttle overboost.. what IS the TIP normaly used for when we have the MAP?

TIP is used for a few things besides part throttle boost. It is used to compare TIP to MAP to run the surge (blow off) valve (albiet as a secondary function), and as a backup to MAP - like if MAP is ever more than TIP something is wrong. Mainly you use TIP to help control fuelling in fast transients, particullarly throttle position transients.
