Are you sure you aren't talking about removing the rear weatherstripping between the hood and the cowl?

I've heard of the weather striping at teh cowl, but nothing ahead of the air box. If you find the weather striping more power to ya!

I know with the Airraid box, they suggest you can remove a piece of the stripping in front of the box and that helps. I see no advantage in removing it with the stock box however. Where would you remove it, ahead of the box, in line with the box?

with the silencers removed i can see a little advantage . as for where to take it out my guess would be in front to the passenger side of the drivers side headlight

I am running an open filter intake with a 3" up-pipe. I removed a section of weather stripping from the front section. The opening lines up with my filter, and would most likely allow more air to the intake.

As i've said before, the air temp is important, but air volume is more important. I may have what you call a "hot air" intake, but in the 1/4 mile it is highly unlikely that there will be a big temp difference; but the fact that my 3" ram-intake is sucking more air will help me. If you drive hard for a while then go do a few 1/4 mile passes right after, then it will affect your performance due to heat soak.

I had a BTG CAI on my car, I removed it and went to the 1/4 mile yesterday, guess what?

Exact same times, I guess the PCM does really cutback to regain stock performance when it comes to mods before the turbo.

the exhaust gas temp is down 75 degrees from the day before at highway speeds. and all i did was remove a 6 inch piece of rubber stripping.
