Default Not sure if its the Timing Belt??????

So I have a 2004 PT 2.4 Turbo that refuses to start. just turns over and over. I look to see if there are any codes and I get P0340 Cam shaft position senser positive. I look to see if there is spark and there is none. Took the senser off to see the if the piece that spins on the cam is spining when i crank it. No spin at all. The car was being driven about 30mins on the freeway. When my sister gets to a stop light, the car stalls. tring to get going agian and cant. The car has 120,000mile, we bought it at 96000miles and the previous owner said he changed the timing belt. The car needs to be running ASAP. My Sister use the car to get around in college. If we i dont get it working soon, Ill have to give up my car.

generally yes you need to decompress the AC and remove the components, there is a way to remove the mounts and twist the motor, but thats kind of sketchy.

A timing belt can be done in about 6 hours by someone who knows their way around a PT. upwards of 12-17 if its your first time.

Make sure to lock the cam gears in place!!!!

Make sure when you re-do it that the timing marks are perfectly lined up , that it is at TOP DEAD CENTER, then rotate the crank 2 full rotations.

After you install the belt its always best to check it with a timing light.

You can pick up a haynes manual for $24 at a local autozone and it will give you the step by step instructions on how to do it :-)
