I ordered my system from trubendz talked to them today and the reason of the price differance on ebay 225.00 and the 280.00 price on their website is the change in the muffler type, they are using a different manufacturer now. they seemed very helpful and told me they had a year warr. on their exhausts. It should be here by thursday so I will let all know how it is .

REF - I looked at the picture of the Trubendz system again after you pointed out that there was a resonator behind the cat in their system. I don't think that Scottmech's downpipe will work with this system because the resonator is immediately behind the 2.25" transition section. In other words there is no 2.5" pipe before the resonator to connect with the 2.5" part of the downpipe.
Not true. The inlet is 2.5" they supply a flange to adapt to 2.25 or 2.5. FYI the resonator center core is 2.5". It also appears they will build you a custom system as you like.

ptgtcb -

My point was that I don't believe that Scott's 3" downpipe will mate up to this system due to the location of the resonator immediately behind the hookup to the stock 2.25" downpipe.

I wanted to clear it up because in my earlier post I said I thought that Scott's downpipe might work with any 2.5" system - BUT I wasn't thinking about those systems with the resonator or muffler being right behind the downpipe.

I think you should e-mail or call the company before you say something won't fit. I was told there would be no probem attaching it to any down pipe assembly. What would it matter where the location of the resonator is?

ptgt - relax dude. John's observation was reasonable, whereas expecting someone to clear their thoughts/ideas/observations on a product with it's manufacturer before sharing them might be construed as unreasonable
They can't say it will attach to any downpipe unless they offer adapaters that mount between it and the various downpipes. A 3inch down-pipe will not fit a resonators 2.25 slip-fit otherwise, etc They may very well have this sorted out, but nothing's realy wrong with someone raising the point that it might be an issue...

I was relaxed, I even took double my medication! [:0]

I thought the same thing as John, but, I emailed the company about it. First off there is no 3" down pipe that directly hooks up to a stock PT cruiser exhaust or any aftermarket one. Maxfab is supposed to make one and I recently e-mailed them and it was not in production at that time ,not to mention, their DP will not fit a stock exhaust. Soo, as far as hooking up a down pipe, any exhaust would need to be fabricated. If Maxfabs down pipe ends in the same location as the stock exhaust then the above mentioned exhaust will most likely fit as with any other 2.5" aftermarket exhaust.

I was not trying to be rude or argue, but, what is wrong with recommending someone to contact a manufacturer before posting a statement about that product, especially when they don't know?

And, do you usually answer for other people?

Otherwise [^] Cruisin' weather is upon us! At least in sunny CA. [8D]

Maxxfab does have the 3.0" downpipe for the PT Cruiser developed and ready to go. It's initially set up to mate up to a Mopar/Borla 2.5" cat-back system. I worked with Scottmech to develop the prototype for my car. Please see Scottmech's post at the Vendor's area of this forum. It includes the pictures and my comments. It'a nice piece for those interested in a 3.0" downpipe and cat.

trubendz are in the process of making 3' downs for our little buggy's and they are sending me one to try out. As soon as it comes I will post pics in here for all to see. they told me they will make it to match up to my 2.5" exhaust I got from them. I have to tell you that their customer service is the greatest they have taken a lot of time with me and have been one of the best company's that I have dealt with regardless of what the product is. there exhaust system in 2.5" is a great buy . The one I won on ebay had too big of a can on the muffler and it looked to Rice for me ,so I called them and they said no problem and they even paid to send the old axle back to them.
I did send them the difference between the 225.00 i paid on ebay and the 280.00 they are asking for the kit with the new magna flow muffler.
their stock cat back exhaust for the pt is a good product at a fair price for sure. on their system there is about 6" in front of the resonator which is 2.25 to mate with stock down pipe ,but I think you could expand the pipe to 2.5" if you had to for different applications.

I talked to Josh today and he said they were in the process of redesigning their CAT back exhaust for the PT GT. They are thinking of moving the resonator further down the mid pipe and it will be 2.5" inlet. They are considering many options on how to make the exhaust fit the various stock and aftermarket DP systems. I guess the info I received was what they are currently working on not what is avilable at this time? [:I] he said they should have it posted on their web site soon. Soo, I do not know what the heck is going on [:0].
