Default A lot of smoke coming from muffler

Hi,

I have a 2003 PT Cruiser GT 2.4L car with 125,310 miles on it and recently a lot of smoke has been coming from the muffler. I took a look and also notice that my oil has been decreasing very quickly as well and I do not why it is doing this. I saw the check engine light turn on and when I went to find its error code it said that there no problems currently

anyone know what the problem might be?

#3 I put cardboard but no oil was leaking from the bottom which is weird because when I go to look at the oil level it shows low oil and the gasket does not even leak.

#1Yes and sadly a lot

#2 no

thank you for the help

since these cars seem to have problems at the same time on here, start with the easiest/cheapest cause. make sure your PCV didn't break. pop it off and make sure you can't see through it, and that it rattles when you shake it.

Smoke at start-up. PCV valve missing "guts".

Hi,

I read the link you sent me but my PCV is actually fine, I ran the tests that the thread had indicated but it still is brand new. When I drive the car it seems that there is not that much power as before when I accelerate.

Just had the same problem with mine, 2005 PT Turbo. The turbo oil seal is bad therefore dumping oil directly into the exhaust manifold. Double check spark plugs for oil fouling, then you'll need to replace the turbo. I recommend Turbos Unleashed, out of Queen Creek AZ. It's about $400 dollars. It's about a three hour job.

Or rebuild it yourself if you can change one you can rebuild one. Kit is $35. something.
