Default Catless Downpipe

Dumb question maybe but Just wondering when you buy a catless downpipe with the flexible end , do you remove the catalic converter and then bolt the pipe on where the cat was? or it just means the downpipe doesn't have a cat on it?
My friend has the downpipe with the flexible end and asked me that question but I don't know either because he wants to remove the catalic converter then put the downpipe on

You remove your stock exhaust from the H02 down including the CAT. You may also want to look into a 3" HO2 housing?
