Default Codes P0480, P0622 - seems erratic

Hi -

I have a 2003 GT. Last week it started throwing P0480. Fan seemed to be running, no over heating. Cleared the codes and all has been well. Yesterday it started giving me P0622. Again, the battery is staying charged and nothing seems to be wrong. I've looked over the wiring the best I can and don't see anything obvious. Any suggestions? Thanks.

What voltage are you reading from the battery with the car off?
What voltage are you reading when you have the car running?
Usually you get around 12 plus volts from the battery with the car off.
With the car running you would usually get 14 to 14.5 volts.
If you are not getting roughly 14 to 14.5 volts I would look at the alternator charging circuit.

I have a 2007 PT Cruiser and have been getting trouble code P0480 with a bunch of other ones. What I am going to next is I have decided to solder all the ground wires together on the drivers side fender first before doing anything else but you need a heavy soldering iron to do it. I think our problems with P0480 has to do with the voltage dropping going to the radiator fan due to weak ground. Another post indicated that this set of wires get corrosion inside and may not be making good contact anymore. It was recommend we cut and strip the wires and solder everything together to the connector after taking the connector off and cleaning it.

ptcruisersteve would you report back when you have this problem solved ? I am asking because I too just had this code come on and car runs fine. I was thinking bad relay

I will be working on the wiring on Sunday so it might be a couple of days after that before I know but I will let you know.

IF it is a bad ground it could also becoming from the male/female connectors going to the fan motor. You would have to separate them to look at the male and female pins inside the connector.

Would we get the P0480 trouble code and not the P0481 trouble code? I would think we would get both P0480 and P0481 but it never hurts to check all possibilities. I was getting the P0480 before replacing the radiator fan and I am still getting the P0480 afterwards but I will still keep that idea in mind.

I also have a 2003 GT that threw the same codes today, plus P0132. The fan is working, not overheating. The battery light is on, but is at 14V when running.
Seems to be running fine.
It acted up last week with the transmission control, not shifting. I found corrosion on the + battery lead and terminal. Cleaning it off solved the issue.
Checking fan and ECM connections tomorrow.

Make sure you reset the codes with an OBDII Scan Tool and if the P0132 comes back look at what is listed below.

P0132 CHRYSLER - O2 Sensor Circuit High Bank 1 Sensor 1

Possible causes

1. Faulty Front Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 1
2. Front Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 1 harness is open or shorted
3. Front Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 1 circuit poor electrical connection
4. Inappropriate fuel pressure Faulty fuel injectors
5. Intake air leaks may be faulty Exhaust gas leaks

I would suggest checking the wiring and contacts going to the Heated Oxygen Sensor.
