Default Cool-Air Tube Heat Shield

Anybody ever try one of these new insulating sleeves on their CAI System?
http://www.speedzone24-7.com/cool-it.htm

It looks like a really good way to insulate the air tube and keep the air flowing into the turbo "cold". I'm thinking of adding it to the K&N FIPK2 system I just bought for my 2004 Turbo. The sleeve will need to be trimmed since the tube on the K&N is only about 20" long, and I'll have to cut holes in it for the sensors, but it still looks like a neat idea.

Comments??

Just received reply from manufacturer; heat shield sleeve can't be ordered in a shorter length and shouldn't be cut, so it won't work with my K&N FIPK2. Might work for longer K&N Typhon tubes or the custom 3" tubes some of you guys are running.

This makes a lot of sense to me. Why not try to minimize losing the effects of the intercooler. Let's face it, when the turbo compresses the air it heats it up a fair amount, which is the reason for the intercooler in the first place. I would think keeping the air as cool as possible after that point would be a greater benefit. I haven't seen any temp figures to confirm or dispute this so I can't say with 100% certainty, but it sure sounds logical (to me at least).

Do you guys mean use the insulating sleeve on the throttle body to intercooler pipe like Adam's UCP replacment pipe?

i don't have a py cruiser, but, check out this link the C&R racing, they have a stick on heat shield, witch is gold in color, same as used if formula 1, nascar, ect. may work for your application, and cost's about $25.00 per linear foot, only comes in 24" x whatever length in feet you need.
