Default 03 Head gasket repair

I just bought an 03 Dream Cruiser #0104 ( 5 spd, 125,000 miles) with a blown head gasket. It has sat for about a month or so with coolant in the cylinders should I soak the pistons with anything while head is off. Like auto trans fluid or diesel fuel to make sure rings are free? Also is there anything I should do while I have the head off ( besides the timing belt/waterpump stuff)? Does it has a bov from factory?
