Default where do you get your performance parts?

hello all.
brand new here. i am now the proud owner of a 2004 gt turbo with 99k. i just got home with it about an hour ago. i have to say i LOVE it.
it already has an after market stainless exhaust. has a cold air intake. thats all it has as far as performance upgrades. it does have the wide band and boost guage in the a pillar.
touch screen radio/mp3/dvd but obviously not performance related.

where do you recommend buying performance parts from?
i do general google searches and lots of sites come up but i want to make sure i am buying from a legit source.
not even sure what i am going to do but i would like to know where to look at least.

thank you all.

did i mention i love the pt?

Generally speaking, parts are parts as long as you get what you ordered. The exception is when you need advice or additional support. So for most stuff I just find the best price and with a low risk of not getting the item I paid for. Most the time, believe it or not, it's Amazon. Almost every time I've found something on a performance website that I wanted, I can find the same item on Amazon for substantially less and free shipping. And ironically, sometimes the Amazon vendor selling the part for less is actually the same performance website. It's strange how that works. And same is true for eBay as well. R1 Concepts is a good example as is AutoComputerExchange and Boomba racing.

Additionally, RockAuto sometimes offers improved and performance parts along with their regular replacement parts. And the price is often really good. But for pure performance items, the very best deal I've found is Advance Auto. Advanced actually offers a lot of performance stuff online that they don't have in the stores. But it's very hard to find it on their website. And while the prices aren't great, once you use one of the 30% discount codes, it's sometimes a super deal. I bought an Edelbrock carburetor, Edelbrock intake manifold, Accel distributor, several Autometer gauges and several timing components this way at really good prices. You pay sales tax, but shipping to the store is usually free. You won't likely find PT-specific stuff this way, but for gauges and other general items, you will. But you will need to search by part number and not application or part description.

Also, until recently, there were several online PT Cruiser "boutique" shops that had lots of unique item. Most were bling but they had a few performance items as well. Many of these are now gone. But the few that remain are worth checking. Just be sure and call before you buy anything. Some of those sites appear to be abandoned.

And of course, for items where you may need support or help, there's the regular vendors for this stuff that have already been mentioned. Some are better than others. And a really good one with non-PT-specific items is SpeedLogix. They are super folks. And Syked ECM Tuning is pretty well unique when it comes to tuning and PCM's for the PT. No body else appears to be offering what Syked does for the PT.

Just an FYI Advanced Auto only has a limited in store special order program for performance parts. Although they claim to carry a full line in actuality they simple use a 3rd party distributor. They also do not really have trained CSR for Performance parts and rely more on manufacture support for Q&A.

Also Jegs and more specifically the Summit Racing will match and or beat any actual retailers price on any Performance line of parts they carry.

To be clear generally speaking when most first time PT Cruiser owners look to do Performance up grades it is usually better to simply go to retailers that have experience with them rather than retailers that are not model specif.

The problem is that there is only a few PT Cruiser owners and forum members that have gone to the extent of upgrading performance level PT Cruiser with testing a variety of parts to really give good advise about what to use and more importantly what not to use.

Over the last few years most of the known Performance upgraded PT Cruisers are gone and many have simple died a silent death because of bad choices in upgrading Performance level parts.

Just remember it easy for some of us to tell you how and where to spend your money but only a very few that can save you from making the same mistakes that others have.
