Default intake fender well

I've been going through threats on multiple sites and can't seem to get a clear idea here. Someone mentioned opening the fender well hole up for the stock intake. But if you do so make sure you come up with a way to keep water out. One suggestion was a screen to keep out water and....critters, lol. How exactly would that keep out water though. Sorry don't mean to sound stupid or insulting.

This sounds completely unnecessary and ineffective in most circumstances. Beyond the obvious problems, the unmodified turbo engine does not need this type of induction. There's much better ways to gain performance. And for the NA engine, it would take so much work and money to make a substantial difference that you are better off just selling the NA PT and buying a turbo model.

If you will tell us what your current setup is, there are some members that can likely guide you to the next step. We may argue about that step. But ultimately you will get some better ideas than cutting the fender well for air induction.

If I am not mistaken he has a Turbo Charged PT Cruiser. If that is the case aside from looks stay with the factory air box un-modified. Anything short regardless of what you find on the internet will likely lower the engines output.

Yep. Touring Editon with the Gt ecu. The air box is stock. However, I removed the silencers. That's it.

The silencer actually improves the air flow when used as the complete assembly.

If anyone has done (a couple on this forum and myself) a simple flow test using a Magnehelic gauge you would see testing with and without. Not to mention the configuration of the complete intake system and the VE does not support larger flowing CFM CAIs or a modified stock air box even on a NA PT.

You may have helped with increasing the nice air sound but may have lowered the WOT engines output.
