Default K&N Intake - Gen. 1 vs. Gen. 2 ?

I believe I've decided to pull the trigger on the K&N Intake, for the 05' Turbo. However, I'm seeing them advertised and priced differently, based upon year. For you guys in the know, is there really a difference in intakes between 1st and 2nd gen?

As a side note, it appears the K&N Typhoon is found advertised fitment for 03-08. I'll presume this should answer the question?

Ehhh, isn't your 05 considered a first Gen?

Sure, but I'm missing your point. I mentioned to distinguish purchasing an intake specifically for the '05 Turbo, as I also own an '08 non-turbo.

I believe the typhoon will fit all years because there isn't any air dam. The fipk version does have an air dam. These will be 1st and 2nd gens specific since the tipm needs to be accommodated one the 2nd gen but not on the 1st gen.

After contacting K&N, I discovered it was the heat shield itself. Those variations can be found in diagram 20, of the installation instructions.
