The Mopar part # for the Hurst 5-speed shifter for the PT GT is P4510486 which can also be gotten from the Mopar Performance Catalog. The catalog can be downloaded from the mopar website.

Got my shifter! It goes in tomorrow, nah, it goes in tonight!! Here is a pic of the parts. It really is a quality item and is going to look good! I like the classic white Hurst shifter ball w/correct shift pattern.

Will the silver ball from the stock shifter fit on this one. I like the mod, but I would like to keep the stock ball on it.

).I installed mine yesterday and spent most of the afternoon today testing it out. Hands down one of the best mods for the manual PT. Easier to get in and out of Reverse, I also noticed I wasn't accidently putting it in reverse when downshifting to 1st while at a stop. I never really had much complaints about shifting through 1-2-3-4, aside from it just being a large travel range. I was however never fond of the 4-5 shift. Problem solved now, 4-5 feels a good deal more natural now so much so that I had been so used to overextending that I wasn't sure I was in 5th with the new shifter. ![]() Install was actually a breeze though I did hit a few bumps along the way. 1st I had a hell of a time getting the cable retaining clips off of the shifter bracket. I ended up having to pry one off with a freakin' chisel and was completely unable to remove the other so I had to do all the work with the main bracket still in the car. The second bump was due to my also taking the opportunity to install Booger Bushings at the same time. Which I higly recommend to anyone with a manual shift. The Hurst uses a roller bolt at the bottom of the shift lever versus the stock shifters' roller pin. The Booger Bushings are designed to work with the stock roller pins and have a small lip inside the center channel that will prevent the Hurst roller bolt from sliding into the bushing. No biggie though, just had to use an exacto knife and cut the lip flush with the inner diameter of the bushing. The allen head roller bolt is still wide enough to keep the bushing in place. Now I just need to deceide whether to keep the Hurst shift ball of put my MoMo back on. :/ |
